Answering your Crowdfunder questions.
4. Why are you crowdfunding rather than trying to generate more sales?
Who said we are not trying to generate sales?
It is still very much business as usual at AFS HQ.
Working hard within our means to the best of our ability.
The crowdfunder is simply designed to help us grow at a slightly quicker pace than our natural growth.
Our supporters are our fertiliser!
Not only helping us grow but also enabling us to concentrate on sourcing and producing quality products.

Answering your Crowdfunder questions.
3. What happens if you close down before I have received my reward or redeemed my voucher?
We chose to crowdfund rather, than a bank loan, in order to improve our business and help it grow, without jeopardising our financial position.
Tailoring the rewards with rates of return that are achievable for our business as well as offering our customers benefits rather than giving the banks more money.
BUT if we did choose to close due to unforeseen circumstances then all outstanding rewards will refunded at their original cash value.
You can find links to our crowdfunder page in our story highlights.

Crowdfunder questions…
2. Why do I have to wait until early 2027 to receive my reward?
Simply. It gives us time.
Time to invest in a new website.
Time to generate income before vouchers start getting redeemed.
Time to make amazing bespoke products that you deserve for supporting us.
All this alongside business as usual.

So we are a week into our Crowdfunder and some of you have questions so we will be answering them over the next few days.
1. How do the voucher offers work?

Think of them like a small loan.
But instead of paying you back cash with interest (this is prohibited under Crowdfunder UK rules)
We pay you back with goods plus extra!
So if you feel at some point over the next 2 years you will spend money at The African Fabric Shop
Then this is the perfect opportunity to pay now and receive extra later.
But it is important to stress ONLY input what you feel you can afford.
