This handwoven purse was made by my client's mother using threads from the materials used at the helicopter factory she used to work at, here in Somerset. It was unravelling front and back, so I was asked to reweave the fabric. I also secured seams that were coming undone. The thread was carefully colour matched to the original weft thread and the remaining warp threads were reused.

I've just finished a lengthy 1910s crewelwork sofa commission. My remit was to transfer all the embroidery to a new backing fabric, carefully cutting out, accurately placing and pinning, and then stitching each motif into place, as well as stabilising any holes within the embroidery. It was stitched by Ethel and Dulcie Booker in 1915, both of whom stitched their names on the original fabric. The client will now take on the reupholstering of the textile onto the knole sofa.
