I'm loving working at my new trestles, made by my talented uncle. They are so easy to adjust and feel so smooth to touch. My 25 year old IKEA trestles were very useful but not in the same class as these lovely beech wood ones!

This afternoon I'm putting together the kits for my Napoleonic Goldwork Sampler Course which starts in March. I love the scarlet broadcloth that we will be working on. It really zings and will show off the goldwork beautifully. I can't wait to work my own sampler alongside my students!

This course is sold out, but I am running it again in May at the earlier time of 3-5pm UK time. Each session is recorded in case the session is missed by the student. There are still spaces remaining. Please see my website for more information and to book.

My new books have arrived! Blackwork patterns by Chrissie Juno Mann of which will be perfect for my upcoming Design for Blackwork course.
Starting on the 30th January I will take the students through how to design an image suitable for Blackwork shading, including the transfer process and the use of different threads and stitches to create areas of differing shade, using appropriate diaper patterns. There are still places available but booking closes on 25th January at 9pm.

Napoleonic Goldwork Course.
Three week online course starting on 7th May.
Running from 3-5pm UK time.

The sample of goldwork to be worked is taken from a commission I undertook in 2021 to design a replica Napoleonic military dress coat for one of the aide de camps of Marechal Berthier, who was Chief of Staff to Napoleon I.

The goldwork will be worked on the scarlet wool broadcloth fabric (not shown above) traditionally used in the French military in the early 1800s. The kit will also be upgraded from previous courses to include gilt plate and silk core smooth passing.

Each live Zoom session will be recorded and available to the students on the course. Padlet and WhatsApp will also be used to help assist with a thorough learning experience.
Suitable for intermediate level and above.

Price starts at £163 and includes tuition, kit and postage.

This wonderful postbox topper has been made by some very creative people in the nearby village of Edington. It deserves sharing more widely! I'm now cosily tucked away for Christmas and will reopen on Monday 6 January. Wishing all my followers a very happy Christmas and a healthy New Year.
