Well I've had a rather lovely time with mixed media today and produced a little painting that I may go on to do in a much larger version of. I want to experiment with the lighting and abstraction so be interesting to see where it takes me. I literally sat smiling while I was doing this piece, it was so liberating!

The Ferens Open Exhibition 2026 is now open! 🎨

I'm so thrilled to have my painting, 'Northern Chimneys', hanging in the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull. It's such a lovely feeling to see my work on the walls alongside so many talented artists!

If you're nearby or fancy a little trip into Hull, do pop in and have a look. There's so much wonderful artwork to see and a cafe too! Fabulous place to visit! ❤️

Tonight is the night!!! 🎉

My first time being selected for the Ferens Art Gallery Open Exhibition, and I'm so incredibly proud to be part of it!

I visited last year's exhibition and was absolutely blown away by the standard of work, so it feels quite surreal and such an honour to have one of my own paintings hanging there this year!

Tonight is the private preview, with speeches, awards and the chance to see the brand new exhibition before it opens to the public tomorrow, 16th October. The exhibition runs until January.

I really hope some of you can pop along at some point and see 'Northern Chimneys' in person! The painting will also be available to purchase. 😊

Feeling very excited (and a little nervous!) ❤️

I found some progress pictures of ‘King’s Square’. Huge success this piece, and it sold, too! This is the closest I’ve come to finding a style that feels like me. Absolutely love this piece. 💗

Lovely afternoon pottering around Beverley exploring the open studios and Open Art Exhibition at Beverley gallery. Had a lovely chat with Susan Beaulah and got heaps of inspiration from the bustling crowds at Saturday market. What a gorgeous day!! 😍

Sometimes the paintings that nearly go in the bin are the ones that surprise you most…

This one started on a piece of Arches paper and as just an experiment with washes. I noticed some unwanted marks that the pigment was settling into, so I grabbed another random sheet that definitely wasn’t Arches (the thought of wrestling with the big roll again was not enticing 😅).

By ’eck, does the paper make a difference! I always forget until I go back to something else. All my usual scrubbing, lifting and generally bossing the paint around didn’t quite behave the same way… but somehow, out of all the chaos, a painting appeared 😂

I almost didn't enter this one......but sometimes a painting needs time to rest and grow with you.

This little polar bear feels so small against the vastness of the ice, a reminder of both the beauty and the vulnerability of our natural world.

I'm proud to say she'll be my entry for Sketch for Survival 2026. 🤍🐻‍❄️
