Some ten out tens. Some fails (but recoverable). And one thing I’d probably do differently now.

But I’m mostly pretty thrilled with how it all turned out and how much I still love this space.
And I’m happy with that. ❤️

But what is wrong is to make a decision without thinking about…

• Which does my heart want more?
• What does each option bring to the space?
• What are my concerns with each option?
• What happens beyond the kitchen? How does each option impact other design decisions within the open-plan space?

Now, I know myself better. I won’t make this mistake again.

Momentum is everything. So, no matter how tempting it is to put a decision off. Don’t. Just make the decision and get it done!

Another fun fact about a peninsula is when you type the word as many times as I just have, it’s very common to type pen*sula 😂.

Anyway. As you can tell. I love a peninsula. So if you can’t have an island and feel like having a peninsula is a massive compromise, it really isn’t!

I love my peninsula. I have zero regrets.

So if it’s a kitchen peninsula vs a freestanding table, I’m choosing the peninsula.

I actually like that it feels closed off, it keeps all the irritating people out of my kitchen!

That teacher could have picked any amazing skill to announce I was good at, and she chose ‘finding things’ 🫠.

To be fair, it has been a pretty handy life skill. But I would have preferred “Sarah is amazing at making money”, much more useful.

Anyway….

If we start a project thinking…

“I’m terrible at this.”

“I have no idea what I’m doing.”

“I’m just rubbish at making these decisions.”

Then every decision we make gets filtered through that belief.

So next time you’re about to start a project, have a little listen to the way you’re talking to yourself.

You don’t have to convince yourself you’re the next Kelly Hoppen.

Just try not to decide you’re rubbish before you’ve even begun.

Yes. I love my new artwork and newel post. That newel post has been on my wish list for years.

But some of my best investments recently are things you’d never normally shout about on Instagram.

Not having to battle with the freezer drawers every tea time has lowered my irritation levels significantly.

And the new alarm system has improved my sleep!

I used to consider it my duty to lie awake when everyone was sleeping in case burglars turned up at our door, which they did once 👀. But luckily I was still awake and sprang into action😂. I’m glad I’ve finally delegated this job now to technology.
