Baby Loss Awareness Week can feel so heavy. I know it certainly has for us, especially being our first year going through this.

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has reached out and trusted me with your stories. It means more than you’ll ever know. I like to think all of our little ones are playing together up in the stars ✨

My inbox is always open if anyone ever needs to talk. In the strangest way, hearing your stories and being able to talk openly helps me too.

Baby Loss Awareness Week 9 to 15 October

During this week, the UHS Maternity Bereavement Team will come together to honour the tiny lives that have left the biggest footprints in the hearts of their families.

Throughout the week, we will be sharing stories from families who have experienced pregnancy or baby loss. These stories are filled with love, grief, remembrance, and enduring connection.

As part of this year's awareness week, we are hoping to share up to five family stories on our social media channel. If you would like to tell a short story about your baby and are happy for it to be shared publicly, please email the Bereavement Team directly at ‘[email protected]’. Sadly, we will be unable to include any photographs. If we receive more stories than we can share during this year's campaign, with your permission we may keep them to be included as part of next year's Baby Loss Awareness Week.

On Sunday 11 October 2026, please join us for our annual Forget Me Not Memorial Service. We will also be sharing a special word cloud on this day, featuring the names of babies we have had the privilege of remembering over the past year.
Their names will also be displayed in our Labour Ward garden and, on Thursday 15 October at 7:00pm, they will be illuminated in pink and blue as part of the Global Wave of Light. We warmly invite you to join us by lighting a candle at home in memory of a much-loved baby.

Say their name. Remember them.

We understand that this week can be particularly difficult and triggering for many families. We can also signpost you to other services where needed.

I tried to be super organised and do a trial run to see how it would look, only to realise most of it is still at Tarquin's Coffee Shop! 😅

New price displays are now ready though, so we are getting there — slowly but surely.

‼️ Cooling cot update ‼️

Just received an email from Abigail's Footsteps to say our SECOND cooling cot has arrived at North Manchester General Hospital 🩵

Knowing Corey’s legacy is allowing families to spend precious time to make memories with their babies is such a beautiful feeling 🩵

We were so lucky to have such an incredible bereavement team at the Princess Anne Hospital, but there was one incredible lady who is particularly important to us.

Liv was our go-to, our shoulder to cry on and our advocate when we couldn't talk. We will never forget what she did for us and for Corey. 🩵

During some of life’s most heartbreaking moments, one healthcare professional can make a lasting difference.

Perhaps they explained things gently, gave you time with your baby, remembered their name, or simply stayed beside you when no words felt enough.

Our monthly You Rock campaign gives families the opportunity to recognise an individual nurse or healthcare professional whose kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. One nominee will receive a special box containing a “You Rock” keepsake and wellbeing treats, reminding them that the care they give truly matters.
