My next stall is at the lovely Southbourne Village Hall Spring Fair on Saturday 25th April 10am - 2pm. I’ll have mugs, bowls, pourers, bud vases, salt pigs, butter dishes and a new piece (for me) - a berry bowl! These are for rinsing and draining your blueberries , blackberries, raspberries and more 🍒🍓🫐🍒

Two things bought from my online shop this week 🥳🥳 the mug with the new combo (smokey Merlot with layers of light sepia over the top) and this little bud vase made with a speckled clay. I love how the turquoise glaze reacted with the darker clay 😍

Well. Partially successful. Some beauties. But mugs with lettering that don’t really work very well in that the speckles mask the words and my underglaze in the letters is too subtle. Still cute but too subtle I think.

More mugs were dropped off Felix & Tabitha this morning should anyone be in the market for a subtle Mother’s Day mug!

The kiln has been on today. 12 hours 30 mins in and it’s HOT in there!! Not long to go until its top temperature is reached. It will hold 1200°C for five minutes then switch off, cooling quickly at first and slowing down through the night.

I’ll be able to open it when it’s around 60°C tomorrow. My fingers are crossed and I’ll be holding my breath a little because I used a new type of clay and didn’t do little test tiles first. Straight in with mugs and bud vases 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

The best Sunday in ages 😍 walked the dogs this morning and dropped & collected one of the teenagers for her work shift. And otherwise, threw nine things on the pottery wheel. I’m still quite slow but I’m
A LOT faster than I was and there were no collapses or other disasters.

These will be Mother’s Day mugs and bud vases for my first market of 2026 (March 21st, Emsworth Loves Local, Methodist centre in Emsworth 9am - 1pm).

Some new pottery pieces from the kiln this morning. Some example Mother’s Day mugs, some bud vases, porridge bowls, a butter dish made to order, and more 🥰 I just LOVE kiln opening day!

I’m popping to Felix & Tabitha to drop some of these off, will pop some online on www.potterybycatherine.com and will have more by my first market on March 21st (Emsworth Loves Local at the Methodist Centre 9-1).

I can make mugs for mum’s to order - get in touch here or via my online shop by 13th Feb to give me enough time to throw/ do the lettering/ fire/ glaze/ fire again!

My Christmas holidays pottery has been gentle and lovely. After my first year of making and selling, which has been absolutely brilliant, it was time to slow down and make a few things for my home! I need to practice making consistent shapes so made a set of for bowls that are nice and big for porridge, soup etc. This is my favourite glaze combination and I’m really pleased with how they’ve turned out.

There are a few more things in the kiln - a new glaze combo I tried on this mug which I’m loving too. I’ll be doing more in this colour for the online shop and Spring markets (my first is March 21st, Emsworth Loves Local at the Methodist centre).

I hope to have many more lovely chats at the craft markets and meet more people who are interested in, and like pottery - not just mine, but you’re all extra-lovely!! Whatever 2026 May bring, I shall be making mugs, bowls, spoon rests, butter dishes, salt pigs and trying people’s suggestions for new items!

Here’s a selection of my pottery, available from my online shop. Last posting day is Saturday (post before 11am order on Friday), local pick up/ free delivery (3km from Southbourne) until 24th!
