Today’s stair-runner templated ready for fitting with black whipping. This staircase is not at all square and the bottom step runs out by a few cms, so out with the straight row and in with the consistent 4 inch border.

Knee kicker vs Power Stretcher 🥊
A straight run in from the van to the bedroom with no bending required, and after initially fitting with just the knee kicker, this carpet still had creases / raised impressions visible in the centre of the room. I do think they would have recovered themselves naturally however it’s not professional leaving a carpet bumpy after installation. A few minutes extra on the job using the power stretcher and the extra tension gained produces a much better finish. If you’ve never used one before or doubt the benefits of using one, the results speak for themselves. Just thumping the knee kicker not only risks damaging the delicate loop pile, but also increases the labour on your body. Let the tools do the hardwork, produce longer lasting results, save time going back to restretches and build customer satisfaction & trust.

Following on from last weeks gallery landing install, it’s stair-runner time ! Opting for a slim taped edge on this one as opposed to the standard wide tape. The final result … stunning !

Double herringbone pattern flooring install. Couldn’t physically get a large sheet of flooring grade plywood upstairs, so they were cut down length ways prior to securing to the subfloor, the joints were feathered over before glueing down the floor covering.

A challenging gallery landing on my own, and my method of install. Cut up, rolled up, taken up, squared up with the spindles, flowed round, gently stretched and joined up, stairs cut in preparation for an eventual stair runner. Finished job loading … #
