Just wanted to share some of the sculptures I was asked to create based on photos.
As a completely self-taught artist who started this journey only a few years ago, I was absolutely terrified of my very first commission — every new piece still feels like an experiment to me! 🤷🏻♀️
In the beginning I honestly have no idea how I’m going to pull it off: Will I use newspaper clay, papier-mâché, or a mix of both? What base should I choose? What will I use for the filling? (I’ve stuffed sculptures with everything from fruit netting to cling film — basically anything I can upcycle!)
😍 Even though I’m never 100 % satisfied with my own work, I always give it my absolute best, and I feel incredibly lucky because I’ve only ever received positive feedback.
👩❤️👨 The couple now stands proudly on their own shelf as a memorable wedding gift, Felix the black cat was commissioned by his momma, and Sweetness (who decided to become a forever guest t one of my friends) was a birthday surprise for her chosen “step-dad”.
🎞️ For every commission I ask for as many photos as possible, we discuss the size and pose together, and then I figure out how to bring it to life. I also send progress photos along the way to make sure I’m heading in the right direction.
All sculptures are made from upcycled newspapers, hand-painted, built on a wire armature, and mounted on carefully selected driftwood or handmade bases.
🎁 If you’d love to gift someone (or yourself!) a fully eco-friendly, one-of-a-kind portrait sculpture ♻️🖼️, you know where to find me!
It would mean the world if you shared this post with friends who might love this kind of gift — just tag them in the comments below! 🗣️⌨️💬
Thank you so much! ❤️🙏🏻
