~~~Spoon Sale~~~
I’ve got a few spoons ready in the nick of time for wintery festivities. I’ll put them up for sale here and see how it goes. If you’re after a handmade gift for someone, or just like the look of a spoon for yourself, any support is huuuugely appreciated 🙂
Next up are these eating spoons - carved from cherry wood and finished with h**p oil/beeswax. I draw and carve these all freehand, so they’re all similar but slightly different shapes and sizes (but approx 19cm long). They have a super smooth knife finish so feel great to eat with - give it a go! They’re £18 + postage.
Numbers 1-6, left to right. Just give me a message/comment if one takes your fancy.
SOLD: Numbers 1, 2, 4, 5 & 6
Next are these cooking spoons - carved from cherry wood and finished with h**p oil/beeswax. I draw and carve these all freehand, so they’re all similar but slightly different shapes and sizes (the longest is 32cm, shortest is 28cm). They’re £20 + postage.
Numbers 1-5, left to right. Just give me a message/comment if one takes your fancy.
First up are these coffee scoops - carved from cherry wood, with a splash of milk paint and finished with h**p oil/beeswax. I draw and carve these all freehand, so they’re all similar but slightly different shapes and sizes (all pretty good for scooping things though). They’re £22 + postage.
Numbers 1-8, left to right. Just give me a message/comment if one takes your fancy, and we can sort payment by bank transfer/PayPal.
SOLD: Numbers 1, 2, 3, 7 & 8
That’s a wrap! We finished off the course season with two spoon carving workshops this weekend - 9 people getting to grips with using sharp tools to craft green wood for the first time. Thanks so much to everyone who’s done a course this year - it’s been a real pleasure passing on some of the satisfaction of green woodworking!
Next year there’ll be plenty more spoon carving, stool making and bench making courses, all suitable for complete beginners (and up!). Dates will be on my website and imminently.
New course alert! We’ve just finished our first bench making course and it was a great success all round. It’s a 3-dayer, so has a slightly more relaxed pace, with more time for creativity, exploring the farm, eating biscuits etc.
Watch this space for next year’s dates. We’re planning to run the course at least twice over the year. Looking forward to it already!
First time working with London Plane wood for this latest coffee table. It’s good stuff! More pictures once it’s oiled and has its woven shelf underneath…
This was the second of these benches I ever made, around 2 years ago. It went to my sister, so I get to check up on it whenever I visit! Nice to see how the chestnut has aged to a dark silvery-grey in the South Wales sea air. I think I’ve made 9 of these benches now, and the design has evolved slightly, but they’re still made from locally sourced sweet chestnut or oak, with hand tools.
I’m starting to think about orders to be getting on with for the coming winter/spring, so if you’d like one of these in time for next summer, do get in touch!
I haven’t carved many spoons of late, but here are the two most recent. The one on the left was carved from rowan, during our first spoon gathering a few weeks ago. It was great to get together with some other local(ish) carvers (swipe to see the one photo I took 😅). The next one will be on Friday 6th May from around 4pm. If you’re local to Hampshire, and enjoy carving the odd spoon here and there, you should come! Give me a message on here and I’ll add you to the email list.
