Calibration; it’s a science and an art backed by an absolute understanding of the physics.
When I’m asked to calibrate a room, the first few hours are really an investigation into whats been installed and how it’s been installed. From gain structure to finding rattles!
The best speakers and amplifiers do not guarantee performance. Great audio comes from good design and implementation of the whole system. The room and the rooms acoustic behaviour is the single most important part to an audio system.
Understanding your system helps me to make informed decisions on how to tackle the calibration. That could be moving the seating or the subs maybe both.
I generally offer advice of ways to improve the space, should you ask. All of which can be shown through the measurements I’ve made during the calibration.
This all takes time. So please be picky about who you entrust to take on your calibration. Ask for references, proof of ‘competence’ or even to listen to their demo space. Running the auto eq is not a calibration so please, ask the questions of your calibrator! Your ears will be thankful
