Lots of delights in the Corner Patch this morning!
A customer has been in for binding fabric for this beautiful bear quilt.
Isn’t it a gorgeous way of showcasing some of our quilting fabrics. Joanne’s nephew is going to be a very lucky boy.

Then the delivery man dodged the torrential showers we are having this morning and dashed in with some big boxes.
These are all dressmaking fabrics.
The solid colours are a light weight wool/poly/viscose blend and actually have a slightly mottled colour. They have a lovely drape and are perfect for trousers, dresses and lightweight jackets.

The blue checkerboard is a cotton with 10% poly. It has an interesting texture and again would make lovely trousers, as well as other garments.

I love the colourful viscose/ linen fabric and am already planning a dress!

All are from Telio fabrics, will be so easy to sew, washable at 30C and 140cm (54 inches) wide. They will retail at £14/ metre and will be on the website asap.

✨ New in at The Corner Patch ✨

We’ve just unpacked these absolutely luminous new cottons — “Dragonflies” by Fiona Clarke, exclusively for Nutex.

Honestly, the colours are glorious in person… like captured light, oil slicks and dragonfly wings. The circle print is giving full twilight fairy lights through trees and we are slightly obsessed. 👀

Perfect for quilting, dressmaking, bags, cushions, joyful hoarding… you know the drill.
(Tape measure for scale because apparently self-control is important.)

Well my first Draft Your Own Perfect-Fit Bodice Block workshop is complete! ✂️😊

Today was a lovely mix of measuring, mapping, problem-solving, and learning — for all of us, I think. Watching people go from: “...this doesn’t look like a pattern” to “Ohhh, I get it now” was genuinely brilliant.

I’m already improving the worksheets and streamlining the delivery for next time, but I’m so grateful to this patient first group for trusting both the process and me.

One of the best parts of today was watching people realise: your body isn’t wrong — most commercial patterns are just drafted for different proportions.

9 times out of 10… you don’t. You don’t need an upgrade, you just need to know how to use the one you’ve got. ✨

You just haven’t been shown what your machine can actually do.

This is your confidence day — the one where everything stops feeling a bit random and starts making sense.

🧵 What do all those stitches actually do?
🧵 Which foot for what — and why?
🧵 Why does it sometimes just… refuse?!
🧵 And how do you get it sewing smoothly again

Bring your machine (or use ours), ask all the questions you’ve been quietly wondering about, and leave knowing how to actually use it — not just tolerate it.

No jargon. No judgement. No “you should already know this.”

Just a really satisfying day where things click into place ✨

Your sewing machine doesn’t need a spa day…
…but it does need a bit of looking after 😉
Most machines that come in “not working properly” are actually just:
✨ full of fluff
✨ slightly dry
✨ or sulking because the needle’s blunt
Before you panic (or blame the machine), try these:

🪶 De-fluff
Take the plate off and gently brush out lint around the feed dogs and bobbin area, a clean mascara brush is perfect for this!
(You’ll be amazed what’s hiding there 👀)

🪡 Change your needle - especially if you can’t remember the last time you did!
A fresh needle fixes so many issues.

🧵 Rethread completely
Top and bobbin. Slowly. Properly.

Machines are fussy creatures — they like things done just so.
Most of the time, that’s enough to get you back up and running 💪
And if it’s still misbehaving — bring it in, we’ll have a look together. No judgement, promise 😄
