Why is beam control so important in sports lighting?

At Ritelite, we don't just focus on producing more light. We focus on controlling where that light goes as efficiently as possible.

Both our Sports-LITE portable floodlights and Quad Pod K65 mobile lighting towers use bespoke lensing designed to direct light onto the playing surface, creating a uniform light spread across the area being used.

Ritelite beam control helps to reduce light pollution to the surrounding area while also maximising the efficiency of the power available to support longer training sessions.

Whether lighting a training area, court or full-size pitch, effective beam control helps ensure the available light is used where it is needed most.

As the darker evenings return, clubs, schools and sports facilities face the same challenge: how to keep outdoor training areas in use when natural light is no longer enough.

Ritelite Sports Lighting gives organisations the flexibility to light the pitches, courts and training areas they need, whether that’s creating additional training space, extending training hours or making better use of existing facilities.

Our Sports-LITE and Quad Pod K65 portable and mobile sports floodlights provide flexible lighting options for a wide range of sports throughout the autumn and winter months.

The darker evenings are starting to make a real difference to training schedule, and football clubs across the Northern Hemisphere are now putting their Sports-LITE kits to use, allowing them to train more players for longer across different training area.

One of the advantages of the Sports-LITE is that clubs don't need to decide months in advance exactly where they'll need lighting.

Lights can be positioned around the pitch or training area needed that evening, set up before the session starts and switched on as daylight fades. With up to 4 hours 20 minutes of runtime, there's plenty of light for multiple age groups to train throughout the evening.

From a small coaching area to a full-size pitch, the same Sports-LITE system can be configured around changing training requirements throughout the season. Lights can also be repositioned as needed, helping clubs rotate training areas, protect heavily used turf and reduce reliance on the match pitch during bad weather.

to our Sports-LITE installation at Oundle School

Schools and universities are once again coming to the time of year when daylight is fading earlier and it becomes harder to maximise facility use for late afternoon or evening sports trainings sessions on pitches, courts and other outside training areas.

This case study explains some of the reasons Oundle School invested in Ritelite Sports-LITE portable floodlights and how they have been able to use these lights to:

✔️ Extend training hours across the campus
✔️ Light all training surfaces –for rugby, tennis, netball, and football
✔️ Support both student sport programmes and community use
✔️ Achieve this without the need for permanent lighting or planning permission

It's great to see how flexible the Sports-LITE has been for Oundle School and many other education settings, helping them get more from their outdoor facilities all year round.

It’s a busy time in the Ritelite workshop as clubs and sports organisations are getting ready for the darker evenings ahead.

This line-up of Quad Pod K65 mobile lighting towers is almost ready to leave us, heading outside the UK to provide lighting for another sports facility this autumn.

With more Sports-LITE and Quad Pod K65 orders currently moving through production, testing and dispatch, our team is working hard to get everything ready and out to customers in time for when they need to start lighting up their evening training seasons.

Always good to see a line-up like this before products leave our workshop!

When the Munich Ravens Football moved to a new training facility, one of the challenges they needed to solve was lighting.

Permanent floodlighting wasn't available and hiring temporary lighting was proving expensive, so the club chose four Quad Pod K65 mobile sports lighting towers to light around 80 yards of their training field.

The Quad Pods can be set up and moved by the club's own team, stored when they're not required and provide the quality of light needed for evening training throughout the season.

After using the system, Sean from the Munich Ravens summed it up:

💬 "For a seasonal sport like ours, there's not a better option… without them, we'd be in trouble."

Great to see the Ritelite K45 lighting up the finish line of the Yr Wyddfa Ultra 50 in Betws-y-Coed at the weekend.

Ultra-runners took on 45 miles and more than 3,000m of ascent through some of the toughest mountain terrain in Wales, with the route taking in Yr Wyddfa, Tryfan and the Glyderau before returning to the finish in Betws-y-Coed.

The K45 provided powerful, portable area lighting to help keep the finish area illuminated as runners continued to arrive well into the night.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and completed this incredible challenge. 👏

How much more could you get from the sports facilities you already have?

For growing clubs, schools and sports organisations, finding enough space for every team and training session can be a challenge, particularly once the evenings start getting darker.

Portable and mobile sports lighting can help turn areas that would otherwise be left unused after dark into valuable training space, whether that's creating another coaching area, accommodating more teams or lighting a full-size pitch.

From the portability and flexibility of Sports-LITE to the higher light levels available from the Quad Pod K65, Ritelite sports lighting systems give organisations the flexibility to light the space they need.

Helping more players train for longer on their own facilities.
