Today I finally had a chance to visit The National Glass Centre in Sunderland to discover it is closing completely on the 31st July! It will most probably be demolished 😳 Unbelievable!!!
The building is the most amazing place full of the history of glass especially in Sunderland and housing the most wonderful exhibits of contemporary glass too. I took 100s of photos but these 2 contemporary pieces I thought were especially poignant 💚
I highly recommend a visit if you are at all interested in glass, before its too late ⏳️

One of the reasons I've not been posting much lately is I've been away with husband celebrating his retirement 🎉 We were lucky to enjoy nearly 2 weeks in Turkey, Greece and Italy. A few stained glass places like a synagogue in Corfu Old Town and an old pharmacy in Trieste were closed the days we visited, but Istanbul and Piraeus definitely delivered 🤩

I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful bank holiday weekend ☀️ I've spent today mostly recovering from yesterday (CGNIM), repotting 27 pot plants and puzzling over how to fix this to a garden stake 🤔 I figured out how to solder the spinning axle last week and keep the glass balanced. But my plan to fix to old steel knitting needles, (like my spinning butterfly and dragonfly stakes of a couple years ago), has fallen flat! Might have to consult an engineer friend...
Stayed tuned for an eventual solution 🙂

I'm looking forward to soaking up the sun, music, festive atmosphere and maybe a beer (or two) tomorrow! Why not avoid the queues to the beach and come along too ☀️
I'll be bringing over 100 unique sparkling, new suncatchers, I've been busy making plus some of my silver and glass jewellery and lots of suncream 😎

I'm so excited to be back here again on Sunday 10-4pm! I've been super busy making "things with wings"; this year's theme 🤩 Expect lots of birds, bees, butterflies...all sparkling in the sunshine ✨️

Sorry not posted for a few days. I've been away with husband, celebrating his retirement! AND seeing so much beautiful stained glass!
