Busy making willow frames ahead of this weekends event. I’ll be teaching lots of different weaving projects at thebig_retreat_cambridgeshire

Super useful small plant supports for young climbing plants. I have a few things on my ‘catch up’ list and these had caught up with me so I happily sat chatting with a lovely friend who had ordered them a while back so I made them whilst we chatted! Must be more organised…..! 🤣

Trying out a few different options with some mini colourful fish, sticks, string and some hand painted beads…..

Preferences? I can’t decide on horizontal or vertical fish…..

Here’s the seahorse simplified.
Pic 1 - 5 strand corn dolly pattern (you have to manage the weave to get it to expand and retract), use the tail leftovers to secure a circle at the bottom and a fine piece looped back on itself to get the head positioning right. Add a separate piece for the fin, thread through then wrap back on itself and weave the end away. Pic 2 - Ta dah!

Mini making sorta day…. Ooph, that’s a thumb workout right there?! 👍
3ft willow / 3 varieties = fish, starfish, seahorses, boat sails and a random leaping hare. It’s bit like ‘Where’s Wally’ for willow weaving 😂

Sticking with a beach theme today making Starfish and perfecting the seahorse pattern….. now thinking about what else I can add to my seaside selection 🌊 🌊 🌊

When someone asks you to make a quiver and they need it today….. only had 3ft rods so it’s a bit wonky but perfectly rustic for a reenactment event! Great exercise for my brain on a sunny day whilst showcasing my wares at northantscountryshow What a fabulous event! Thanks to everyone that popped by to say hello and for your purchases.

Creating a pattern for a seahorse - this is the result so far….. almost there. Just need lots of concentration and longer fine willow!
