I've been asked a few times why, when children are painting the bus stops, I keep saying:

"Don't worry if you go over the lines."

And also:

"How do you tidy it up afterwards?"

The answer is that I want the children to focus on painting, having fun, and being creative rather than worrying about making mistakes.

Once the painting is finished, I go back in with a window razor scraper to clean up the edges and remove any little slips or wobbles. Then I use acrylic paint pens to redraw the outlines and details.

It's a simple process, but it makes a huge difference to the finished artwork.

These photos show the same tulips at different stages of the process - from the original painting, through edge clean-up, to the finished linework.

So if you're ever painting with me and hear "Don't worry if you go over the lines"... now you know why! 🌷😊

🌻 Today was bus stop painting day 3? 4?! 🎨

I supplied the paint. I supplied the roughly drawn guidelines

The community supplied the talent.

Children, teenagers, adults, families and complete strangers all stopped to add flowers, bees, ladybirds and colour to the shelters.

It's amazing what can happen when you leave paintbrushes lying around and trust people. 💜
