This was my attempt at my first competition piece for any event. The theme this year was the top 100 novels published by penguin. One of my favourite stories as a kid and film was The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. 🪴 🪏 🍃

The idea was the darkened pitfired exterior suggests years of neglect and secrecy, while the leaf-filled interior reveals the living garden concealed within. The piece celebrates the novel’s enduring themes of discovery, growth and transformation.

I didn’t win but it was fun stepping out of my comfort zone and doing something different!
