Pair of Chinese Fu dogs (lion) stencils. These imposing statues guard entrances to palaces and temples. The male lion has an embroidered ball beneath his right front paw that represents the world. The female has a small cub under her leg, which represents the cycle of life. He guards the outside physical structure, while she
protects those living inside.
