Our Story

History - Potterycrafts was formed in 1983 with the merger of the craft supplies businesses of three industrial companies Podmore, Wenger and Harrison Mayer following their purchase by Cookson plc. Potterycrafts became an independent company in 1988 and was sold to Imerys in 1995. A management buy out in 2006 created the independent businesses of Ceradel in France and Potterycrafts in the UK. As well as the ceramic materials businesses, Potterycrafts also incorporated kiln builders Webcott, part of Wengers and one of the longest established craft kiln manufacturers in the country. Ceramic Products - Potterycrafts are the largest UK manufacturer of pottery kilns for craft and education, and we also produce bespoke kilns for industrial and specialist applications. The materials range includes colours, glazes and clays designed for us, and we are also the exclusive UK distributor for the world leading Amaco product ranges including Brent potters wheels. Craft - Following the formation of the independent company in 2006, Potterycrafts purchased All About Crafts a company supplying a range of non-ceramic craft materials. In 2011 we acquired Bramwells a Blackburn based trade supplier well known for their diverse range of paper, colour, yarns and stamping products. Kilns made in Britain - We have re-designed all of our top loading ranges and the new kilns are now widely acclaimed as being more robust, more efficient, reliable and better looking. What's more, strict control of costs and efficiency in production has enabled us to maintain very competitive prices -and of course they are made in Britain.
