The sun is set to pull down the blinds tomorrow evening, reaching its peak in Sunderland just after 7:00 PM.
If you haven’t managed to get your hands on a pair of certified eclipse glasses, remember never to look directly at the Sun or rely on standard sunglasses - eclipse glasses are thousands of times darker.
Instead, try holding up a kitchen colander so sunlight shines through the holes, projecting tiny crescent shapes onto a wall or piece of paper. You can also use pinhole projection by poking a small hole in a piece of card and letting the sunlight pass through it onto a second sheet held below.
