🎉 Celebrating 50 Years of J&B Carpets 🎉
This year, we are incredibly proud to celebrate 50 years of business — a milestone that means so much to us and our community.
Established in 1976 by Lawrence Beckett, the journey began with a simple vision: supplying and fitting carpets from his home. With dedication and hard work, Lawrence went on to open J&B Carpets in Walmley Village, creating a beautiful showroom with something for everyone.
Lawrence was truly hands-on, undertaking every aspect of the business — from fitting customers’ carpets to building a successful independent company.
In the early 1980s, his wife Jenny joined him, playing a key role in growing the business into what it is today.
This journey would not have been possible without the loyalty and dedication of our incredible team over the years. We would like to thank Mark Rutter, Glen Jones, Gary Woodward, Steven Holland, Paul Vernon, Steve Stallard, Alan Beddows and many more who have been part of our story. In later years, the next generation joined the team — Robert Beckett, Daniel Woodward, and Callum McDonald — continuing the family legacy. We have recently welcomed Ryan and Spencer to the team.
Our growth has always been driven by the support of our loyal customers, both long-standing and new. Through challenging economic times and wonderful celebrations, your support has meant everything to us.
We also proudly supported the Sutton Fun Run for over 15 years — something very close to our hearts.
Sadly, we lost Lawrence in 2019, but his passion and vision continue to inspire us every day.
Today, the business is run by his daughter Jodie, alongside our experienced and dedicated team, continuing the values and commitment that started it all.
Thank you for being part of our journey — here’s to the next chapter! 🥂
