I saw some side stripe trousers online and immediately knew I wanted to make my own! ✂️
And I already had the perfect trouser pattern in mind. This is actually the SECOND time I've made it because I love the fit and shape so much! They are super comfy, but feel kind of smart and they are the simplest, easiest sew with just 2 pattern pieces if you omit the pockets like I did. There isn’t even a separate waistband piece!
For the stripes, I used a tape binder attachment on my coverstitch machine, which folds and stitches the fabric in one go. It's such a satisfying technique and gives a really professional finish. Best of all, you can create your own stripes in exactly the colours you want!
If you don’t have a coverstitch you can press the fabric under and stitch it down to the trousers with your sewing machine, but this way was so much quicker and easier than pressing and I love the extra little detail of the stitches down the stripes, they look so professional.
I'm so pleased with how they turned out! ❤️
🧵 Pattern: Perry pants Fibre Mood

You can find the pattern and fabrics at Sew Essential, and if you're curious about the tape binder attachment, I've demonstrated how it works in a recent YouTube video along with lots of other clever coverstitch attachments.
