Name me a more stereotypical Dad meal to cook than bbq ? You can't.

So for Father's Day, I cooked bbq.

Simple Lincolnshire sausages
Tumeric and black pepper chicken thighs
Flat Iron steak, dry brined overnight need in all-purpose seasoning.
All from Aldi UK

Served with simple dressed salad leaves, potato salad and flat bread.

Washed down with The Best Pintotage, from Morrisons | Fresh Food & Recipes
A Pinotage is a good match for bbq. My close friends will not forgive me if I mention a Pinotage, which is a South African grape, and call it a bbq, so it's a good match for a braai too. Medium acidity and tannins, with blackberry and dark plum and a hint of black pepper, cuts through the juiciness and smokiness of bbq meats.

Happy Fathers Day

Never have I ever cooked Pork Schnitzel before, until now.

I had a load of bread leftover the other week so dried it in the Ninja Kitchen UK airfryer. Blitzed it up to breadcrumbs that were beautifully crispy and dry. So, I thought I'd put them to use and make this.

Pork loin steaks, bashed till nice and thin. Coated in seasoned flour, drenched in egg then into bread crumbs. Fried in hot oil in a shallow pan for 3 to 4 minutes.

Served with potato salad and a leaf salad.

Washed down with a German Pinot Noir, know in Germany as Spätburgunder. Beautifully light, strawberry, red fruit and a touch of acidity to cut through the Schnitzel. From Sainsbury's

Jajangmyeon

A Korean noodle dish of pork and vegetables in a thick, dark bean sauce topped with shredded cucumber and spring onion. Rich, umami and sweet.

A delicious mid week bowl of noods.

"These are like Chinese nachos" was the comment Mel made. That was the plan.

I saw Emma Wells post these recently and knew I had to have some of the action.

Pork shoulder dusted with Chinese five spice, cooked in the slower cooker. Pulled then doused in hoisin sauce. Piled on to prawn crackers, topped with shredded cucumber and spring onions and a further drizzle of hoisin.

Very satisfying.

Lasagne Jacket Potatoes! Yup, you heard that right.

Saw this on a while back and saved it.

Didn't disappoint. Homemade meat ragu, cheesey lasagne sauce, shed load of grated cheese and parmesan piled on top of jacket potatoes and baked.

Now it's the start of a new season, Summer, a salad seemed a fitting start.

Pork mince fried with garlic, ginger and spring onion, with added beansprouts and a hoisin laced sauce including rice wine, soy, a splash of chicken stock and sugar.

Served on a bed of shredded lettuce and savoy cabbage, grated carrot and sliced sugar snap peas, Drizzled with a lime and peanut dressing. Topped with chopped coriander and peanuts.

I'll definitely be making this again.

A perfect salad for a hot spring day.

Full of different flavours, textures and colour.

Peppery rocket, creamy avocado, salty serrano ham, sweet and crunchy pomegranate seeds, tangy sundried tomatoes, warm juicy chicken. Drizzled with a sweet and sharp balsamic glaze and served with chunks of rosemary and salt focaccia.

Washed down with a Sauvignon Blanc, full of peach and tropical fruit and a zip of acidity.

I can not tell you how good this meat is.

This was an easy and damn tasty meal, that the family loved.

Sliced onions slowly fried for at least 20 minutes until sweet and caramelised.
Chopped green peppers fried quickly in the same pan with the heat whacked up.

Griddle the steak, I cooked mine to medium. Let it rest and thinly slice. Add to the onions and peppers.

Turn off the heat, add shredded mozzarella, put a lid on and let the residual heat melt the cheese.

Cook some skinny chips and load with the philly cheese steak.
