It's North East Open Studios time again. Even though I'm not taking part this year, you should still come out to my studio to see the fabulous work on display by Janet Healey (venue 108), Steve Kenyon-Roberts (143) and Whinnyfold Knitwear (251), as well as David, just down the road at Woodside of Melgum (257) and the amazing Stephen Redpath Art (199) in the village.

I've been looking forward to this project so much that I had to get started on it this week. How gorgeous is this House of Hackney velvet, and it feels even better than it looks!

If you think you need a bit of green snakeskin in your life, then you are in luck because this chair is now available to buy from me. Message me for further details, and please share this post to anyone who you think might like it 🐍😊

It's currently in my studio, which will be open from tomorrow, Saturday, 12th September, as part of NEOS ( north east open studios). I'm not taking part this year, but as I share my space with my husband Steve Kenyon-Roberts, we are open to show his pottery, we're also joined by Whinnyfold Knitwear and Jan Healy, artist.

Well, here it is, my final upholstery project for a client. I can't share the whole piece just yet, I'll do that once it is safely home with its owners. What a great project to finish on, a beautiful frame, gorgeous fabric, and a client who has just been a delight to work with. What more could I ask for?

I'll still be around, working on the odd piece for friends and family, making lampshades, and some chairs to sell, as well as carrying on with teaching for a while. Thank you to each and every one of you who has followed my upholstery journey here on social media and all of my wonderful clients and students over the years.

This made me smile so much when it landed in my inbox this morning. My lovely clients husband noticed that she was completely matching the lamp I made for her a while ago. Her smile in the pic really was as big as the emoji too. Hope it brings a smile to your face. 😁😁

Weaving traditional Ikat fabric, it was fascinating to watch, particularly the foot action. The silk warp is tie dyed first, then cotton ( but sometimes silk) is used for the warp. 1m of fabric takes 4 hours to weave, not including the preparation time. The cotton warp is used wet to ensure a very tight weave. So beautiful 😍
