Let's talk about LAYERING...
We all know about layering our clothes but have you ever thought about layering your window treatments? People often ask me if they should choose curtains or blinds; whether they should opt for heavy interlined curtains as opposed to lighterweight ones; should they go patterned or plain. Really, sometimes the answer is to have both.
The first picture shows some heavy interlined roman blinds layered over sheer motorised rollers for privacy from the road, a job I completed 18 months ago.
The next two pictures show the curtains I installed today, layered over some patterned blinds the owners inherited with their house. They had been feeling the drafts from the large windows, so these interlined curtains will help keep them cosy in the evening. The curtains can also be drawn on hot summer days to keep the house cool.
As well as curtains over blinds, another great look is for heavy curtains over sheers; there are some great double poles around specifically for this purpose.
