Earlier this month, Ricoh UK Products Ltd (RPL) announced plans to expand its ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) installation at its Telford site, by utilising existing assets.

The project will increase on-site renewable energy generation, support day-to-day manufacturing activities, and contribute further towards RPL's long-term carbon-reduction ambitions.

'Ricoh inspires next generation of print talent on International Print Day'

Today, on International Print Day, we're proud to celebrate the future of our industry by helping to inspire the next generation of print talent.

Together, Ricoh UK (Ricoh UK Graphic Communications), Ricoh Printing Solutions Europe Ltd (RPSE) and Ricoh UK Products Ltd (RPL) are co-hosting a special event in support of Young People In Print & Packaging (YPIPP), giving students and young professionals the opportunity to explore the exciting career opportunities available across the print and packaging sector.

Approximately 40 students from New Road Academy Telford, Aspris Telford School, The Telford Langley School, and Telford College will take part in presentations, practical activities and guided demonstrations at Ricoh’s European Customer Experience Centre.

'RPL expands solar generation and reduces CO² at Telford site'

Ricoh UK Products Ltd (RPL) is beginning work to expand its ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) system in Telford to generate additional renewable electricity on site and support its long-term carbon-reduction ambitions.

The Solar PV In-Fill project will add 300 panels to RPL’s existing 1.55-Megawatt solar PV system, which currently offsets over 292 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year. Once operational, the extension will increase capacity by 103kWp and generate approximately 80,000kWh of renewable electricity each year—equivalent to an increase of 8% in generation.

Based on current UK carbon data, the additional generation will avoid a further 10.3 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

⚙️ Good luck to our Engineering apprentices!

Today, a team of Engineering apprentices from Ricoh UK Products Ltd (RPL) are at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry for the Apprentice Automation Challenge Finals.

The challenge was to automate an everyday process at home or work – and our apprentices have risen to it by developing a Smart Home Curtain device.

Their innovative solution attaches to a curtain pole and uses a clap sensor to automatically open the curtains with a simple clap of the hands.

From developing the initial idea to designing and building a working solution, the project has been a fantastic opportunity for the team to put their engineering skills, creativity and teamwork into practice.

Today, they’ll showcase their project at the Finals and present their solution to the judging panel.

We’re incredibly proud of what the team has achieved to reach this stage.

🦌 Wildlife Wednesday is back!

And it didn’t take long for a familiar face to make an appearance… our resident deer has been caught on camera again! 📸

For the past few years, we’ve been placing wildlife cameras in different locations across the Ricoh UK Products Ltd (RPL) site. They give us a glimpse into what happens when we're not around, helping us monitor the wildlife visiting and living on our grounds and better understand which areas of the site they’re using.

From deer and foxes to some of our smaller visitors, the cameras continue to reveal the variety of wildlife sharing our 50+ acre site here in Telford.

We’ll be sharing more of our latest sightings over the coming weeks as Wildlife Wednesday continues. 👀

🌱 Nearly five decades of embedding sustainability into how Ricoh operates.

From manufacturing and logistics to product use and end-of-life processes, sustainability has long formed part of Ricoh's approach to business.

That commitment has once again been recognised, with RICOH Company Limited named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Sustainability Programs and Services Hardcopy 2026 Vendor Assessment – the second time Ricoh has achieved this recognition.

The assessment identified strengths including sustainability across the portfolio, innovation and Ricoh's consultative approach, while Ricoh continues to integrate circular-economy design, digital solutions and AI-enabled innovation into its wider sustainability efforts.

🦋 “Our 238 sightings may only represent a small part of the 1.6 million+ butterflies recorded nationally, but they still contribute to something much bigger.”

That’s the message from Carl Griffin, Continuous Improvement Engineer and Biodiversity team member, after employees from Ricoh UK Products Ltd (RPL) and Ricoh Printing Solutions Europe Ltd (RPSE) took part in the Big Butterfly Count 2026.

Across four survey sessions at RPL’s Telford site, 23 employees recorded 238 butterflies and moths, helping to build a clearer picture of local biodiversity and contributing to national conservation research, to support Butterfly Conservation.

“Thank you to everyone from RPL and RPSE who took part in this year’s Big Butterfly Count, and to the Biodiversity team for helping to organise the sessions. Each person’s voluntary contribution has helped us capture another useful snapshot of the wildlife present across our site.”

Through activities like this, RPL continues to protect and enhance biodiversity across its 50+ acre site, supporting wider ‘ESG Leadership’ commitments.

🦋 Big Butterfly Count 2026: Key Results

This year, employees from Ricoh UK Products Ltd (RPL) and Ricoh Printing Solutions Europe Ltd (RPSE) contributed to the UK’s annual Big Butterfly Count (Butterfly Conservation), a nationwide citizen science survey that helps assess the health of our environment.

👥 23 employees took part
✍🏻 4 survey sessions were held across the Telford site
🦋 238 butterflies and moths were recorded locally
🕛 9.75 hours of voluntary CSR activity were contributed
🥇 Gatekeeper was the most-recorded species, with 47 sightings
📊 Four of our top five species also appeared in the UK’s national top five for 2026

By taking part, colleagues helped contribute useful biodiversity data while supporting RPL’s ongoing environmental monitoring and ‘ESG Leadership’ commitments.
