Can you relate to feeling disappointed with how your painting or craft turn out?
I absolutely know this feeling of …it’s just not right, I don’t like it…here’s what what helps me, maybe it will help you too:
😏 You are your harshest critic and you don’t have to be!
I watched a tutorial recently and the artist said, ‘that’s lovely’ a few times during the painting session as they looked at what they just painted. It was an affirming and positive atmosphere and it was refreshing. Words matter. When it is lovely, say it, say it out loud, ‘I like that, I am pleased’ or ‘that was fun, I’ll do that again’ 😀.
👉🏽 Try again, the first attempt may not be a great result like with Evie, but what you do next is the key. Practice helps build muscle memory and gives us an opportunity to bring out a truer expression more and more
🎨 Receive compliments - just a simple thanks is acknowledging someone is appreciating & enjoying your craft.
😶🌫️ Take a break: Step away for a moment or two, take deep breaths, or do star jumps in the kitchen (especially when I’ve been sitting for ages) stretch your hands and back or stroll in the garden or listen to the birds… whatever refreshes you 🌷
💜 Encourage: many of us need encouragement but it can be sadly lacking, we have found if you become an encourager, you’ll receive it in return 🙋🏽♀️🙋🏼♂️
❤️ Evie you’ve encouraged me! Love that you and your mom come to our watercolour classes.
Hope your whale 🐋 inspires loads of people to try again. Love you x
