Meet ā€œKarenā€ on the Easel (Yes, She Has Karen Hair)

So, confession time: I’ve had this one painting—let’s call her Karen—hanging out on my easel for weeks now. Life got busy, and honestly, I’m still deciding if I love where she’s going (especially with that Karen hairdo she’s rocking!). But hey, I’m rolling with it and switching gears to some smaller pieces for the Christmas sales at the Brewery in Gloucester. Stay tuned for some fresh little artworks coming soon! šŸŽØāœØ

Sometimes a piece of art just needs the right spark. For over a month, this painting—inspired by the 90s and early 2000s dance music scene—waited on my easel. It finally came to life when I found myself dancing at Lakefest Official in the Retrospective House Dance tent. In that moment, the music took over, and everything else faded into the background. The lights blurred, the people around me disappeared, and it was just me and the rhythm. That’s exactly what I wanted to capture in this piece: that feeling of being at one with yourself and the music. I hope it inspires you to find your own moment of musical immersion.

Barefoot, brush in hand, sunshine on my face, and music playing = my version of heaven.
I meant to take progress pics of this painting, but I got completely lost in the moment. My inner artist said, ā€œsod the content creation!ā€ — and honestly, I’m not even sorry šŸ˜…šŸŽØāœØ

Sometimes the best work happens when you’re just in it.
More soon… once I remember to pick up my phone again 🤪

A loose, expressive close-up of a dancer mid-drop—eyes closed, jaw tight, glowstick blazing.
Ultraviolet and blood red light stutter across his face as the bass takes hold.
Too loud to live outside the body.
All feeling. No escape.

He holds a secret: under blue/black light, he comes alive. Hidden colours. Deeper truth.
Come see it in person—this one’s meant to be felt.

A quick, expressive study of a moment we all crave—music loud, hands raised, heart wide open. No phones. No filters. Just raw, unfiltered presence.

I hope this painting brings pure joy to its new home.

Huge thanks to That White Room for the opportunity to exhibit at the beautiful Gloucester Brewery, Warehouse 4.
It means the world to show work in spaces that celebrate creativity and connection.

This piece is part of an idea I’ve been playing with: life before smartphones.
Moments lived fully—felt, not filmed.
