As we progress into Autumn, the flowers will slow right down and finish for another year 🍂

🌱A Change of Plan for Our Sweet Peas 🌱

The sweet pea rows have now been cleared, their once-lush growth sadly finished and rather desiccated after the heat.

Sweet peas are very thirsty and don’t cope well with hot weather 🥵. As our climate changes, we’re having to adapt what and how we grow.

They remain my favourite cut flower, but we also need to be realistic about the challenges of growing them in future years.

We’ll still sow sweet peas next year, but on a much smaller scale to help conserve our precious water supply 💧.

Gardening, after all, is about adapting, while still making space for the plants we love 💚.

A couple of our subscription jars delivered today 🥰

The garden is really pushing out the blooms at the moment, despite the heat 🥵

The sunflowers of course love these conditions as do the dahlias, which originate in Mexico 🇲🇽🌮

Going forward, these are exactly the kind of drought tolerant plants we will need to focus on 👍

The whimsical English cottage garden will need to evolve as our conditions do 🌍
