Hello All, my name is Sarah Pitcher and I have been sewing for almost 20 years. I got into quilting when I was about to graduate from high school and then dived in full force when I moved across the world to live in Okinawa, Japan with my husband. After several years in Japan, we traveled back to the states, moving two more times, and now currently are back across the ocean living in the UK. Along

the way I have enjoyed exploring different techniques and styles of quilting. I eventually landed on Foundation Paper Piecing and enjoyed the amount of detail you could get with it, unlike traditional quilting. I wanted stuff that was so unique, I couldn’t find patterns anywhere. Naturally, I found a way to design them myself. After years, people started asking to buy them, and then years later people started asking if they could get a specific pattern designed by me for them! I have enjoyed making commissioned pieces of animals, families, logos and characters. I also still create regular patterns and post them on my Etsy and website. Feel free to check them out at:

Nocturnal Nook Block 3
This month we are adding block 3 where we see out the last window in this quilt; we can see the moon is shining bright, and in this witchy dark night we see the bats calmly flying over the shadows of the tree tops.

This month we can sew block 3 to block 4, then we can sew those to the top of block 5 and 6. It’s so exciting to see this quilt slowly come together!

Nocturnal Nook Block 3

This block is displaying the other window in our quilt showing us the bright shining moon, on a dark witchy night, with bats flying over the shadows or the tree tops.

This quilt block is seen to block 4 and then can be seen above block 5 and 6! This quilt is slowly coming together!!!

Today we said goodbye to a house that felt more like a home than any others we have had in the past. Here we watched our two boys grow into teenagers, we watched Lily 🐕 get older, we said goodbye to Kuro 🐈‍⬛, and after adopting Zoey 🐕 and Bailey 🐕 here, we sadly and unexpectedly said goodbye to them as well. My small business had one of its highest producing years to date here and my quilting community has grown 10 times over here.
As I close my eyes tonight, I recall all the travel, museums, shops, train rides, food, history, quilt shows, school functions, military friends, family visits, Disney Paris and so much more… the amount of love I have for the UK is enormous. I know new adventures await and our next chapter will be made with amazing experiences and memories, it’s just hard to close this chapter.
I hope to come back one day, because when you leave and all your friends are locals and zero of them are military spouses; you know visiting will be like coming home again.
And with that, I am headed to bed, and tomorrow we will be back in the states.

The last day in our house, here in the UK. We have made it into our first hotel before we leave. My baby girl, Lily is flying out in the AM. I will miss her while she is flying.
WiFi/internet is rough on base. Having little to “oh it only took 5 min to watch that 1 min video” luck 🥴
Hopefully the next hotel will have better internet/wifi. Or I might need to find a cafe or Starbucks.
And so the countdown begins… reality is really setting in.

Surgeries this morning. We had discussed the ESI again but being back on the table so quickly we opted for a Caudal Epidural Injection, which is at the base of the spine (that means your a$$) and although a quicker procedure it’s been a harder recovery.

Packing up is hard, but the idea that we leave the UK soon is way too much. 😭😭😭
The hard part of is leaving a place you love. Praying our are just as wonderful but it sure does have a lot to live up to.
A few more days/ weeks and then we are off to the USA.

Nocturnal Nook Block 2 is Augusts Patreon block of the month. We officially have the entire left side of the quilt complete now! We are starting to see pieces of this quilt come together!
This month the block has 85 colors, I know it sounds like a lot but it’s to allow each item to be unique and as different as you want it to be!
The green background fabric is Elizabeth Elliott and a lot of Moda Fabrics United Notions | Top fabric & notions distributor solids and grunge as well as some Lumin Fabrics batiks!
This block finishes at 28 x 75 inches! It’s a beast but a wonderful feeling when it’s done!

Festival of Quilts 2026 was a year to remember!
My quilt, Mother Earth hung in the new category Original Design, although I didn’t come close to any of the competition I am so happy to be sharing a wall with non other than Andrea McVey and her beautiful quilt! It was so fun to stand and chat about FPP and quilting our insane choices of tiny piecing and how many needles we often break!
I wish I had more time but at last our household stuff gets picked up this week and so today is our last day to get everything done. It’s just a bitter sweet moment.
