What a fabulous first day at the Southern Wool Show! 🧶💚
It’s been so nice to see so many familiar faces, meet lots of new ones, and spend the day surrounded by people who love wool as much as we do.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Wingham Wool stand today — whether you came for a chat, a squish of fibre, or went away with a bag (or two!) of something lovely.
We’ll be back tomorrow, with plenty more wool waiting for you. See you for Day 2! 🐑

And just like that, it’s starting to feel like the Southern Wool Show!

We’re nearly ready for tomorrow in Newbury, with plenty of wool and fibre, Ashford wheels and looms, Wingham equipment and lots of other favourites packed onto the stand.

Wingham Wool will be at the Southern Wool Show in Newbury next week!

We’ll be bringing a great selection of our 21 Micron Dyed Merino, natural British wools, Ashford wheels and looms, Wingham equipment and plenty of other favourites.

✨ NEW FOR THIS YEAR – ORDER ONLINE & COLLECT AT THE SHOW ✨

Following requests from customers, you can now place your order through our website in advance and collect it from our stand at the Southern Wool Show.

Simply order as normal and select Southern Wool Show Collection at checkout. We’ll get everything together beforehand and have it waiting for you in Newbury.

It’s particularly handy if there’s something specific you’d like to make sure we bring with us – or if you’d simply rather spend less time shopping and more time enjoying the show.

If you’d like to use this service, please order early. There’s a limit to how many collection orders we can prepare, transport and store on the stand, so we may need to close the option early if demand is particularly high.

And, of course, you’re very welcome to simply come and shop with us on the day. 🐑

Whether you’re collecting an order, stocking up on fibre, having a look at equipment or just stopping by for a chat, we’d love to see you in Newbury!

Packing has officially begun for the Southern Wool Show! 🧶🚐

And, as always, the wool goes in first…
We’ve started loading the van with plenty of colour ready for the weekend, with lots more still to squeeze in.

We’ll be bringing a huge selection of fibres, our Wingham equipment range, Ashford Wheels and Looms equipment, Kraftkolour dyes and plenty more.

Looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces (and hopefully some new ones too!) at the Southern Wool Show🐑 ❤️

From plumage colours to fibre. 🤎🧶

Rich chestnuts, warm coppers and soft golden tones, inspired by the familiar colours of pheasants seen across the British countryside.

Here, those individual shades are brought together to create our Pheasant Merino & Silk blend, with the silk adding a beautiful, gentle sheen to the finished fibre.

It's always satisfying watching a blend come to life.

Our Wingham Blending Boards are back in stock! 🧶

Each one is handmade here in the UK by our skilled woodworkers, creating a beautifully finished tool that's perfect for blending small amounts of fibre and creating your own unique colourways.

This post was actually meant to announce that our Standard Drum Carders were back in stock too... but they all sold out last night before we had the chance! Thank you so much for your incredible support.

The good news is that more are already in production and will be available again soon. We are also offering the drum carder on preorder—just phone up and ask for Tom or Ellie.

If you'd like to see our equipment in person, we'll also be bringing the full Wingham equipment range to the Southern Wool Show🐑 , so do come and say hello!

In the meantime, if you've been waiting for a blending board, they're available now on our website.

Quality has always come first at Wingham Wool.

Like many businesses, we've seen the cost of raw materials, dyeing, and production continue to rise. As we reviewed our options, we had some important decisions to make.

We could have changed the specification of the Merino we use or explored having our fibres dyed outside the UK.

Instead, we chose to protect what makes our dyed fibres what they are.

We'll continue using 21 micron Merino for our dyed ranges and continue having our fibres dyed here in the UK because we believe those choices matter.
As a result, we've updated the prices of our dyed fibre ranges.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It allows us to continue making careful choices about the fibres we sell and the way we do business.

Watching summer countryside become fibre.

Meet Letwell. 💚

One of our favourite things we do in the mill is watch a blend come to life. Every colour begins as its own separate fibre, but as it passes through the machinery, those shades gradually mix together until they become one beautifully balanced blend.

Letwell reminds us of long summer walks through the countryside – fresh grass underfoot, leafy hedgerows, and all those beautiful green tones that make the landscape feel so alive at this time of year.

It's become a firm favourite with felters looking for balanced, natural greens for landscape work, but it's equally at home in spinning, weaving and other fibre crafts.

Watching all those greens finally come together never gets old. 🌿🧶

The moment all those colours finally come together...

One of our favourite things we do in the mill is watch a blend come to life. At the start, Easington is a collection of individual colours sitting side by side. Then, after passing through the gill box, those colours gradually begin to mix and soften into one another until they become the blend you know and love.

Easington has been part of our Yorkshire range for many years and, like all of our blends, is still made here in the mill in small batches. There's something rather special about seeing a blend emerge from loose fibre and become a beautifully balanced colourway, ready for spinning, felting, weaving, and all manner of fibre adventures.

It's a process we've seen countless times, but it never really loses its magic.
