As the season draws to a close and with a lot of new followers this week, I thought it was time to do a reintroduction post.
This is me....

My name is Cindy, not Amber. Yes, this still happens regularly ☺️. Amber Cottage is the name of my home.

I am happily married to Mr Amber Cottage, he prefers to take a back seat in the business, but I certainly couldn't manage without him. Hes role is in soil health , compost making and wormery management, oh and lots of heavy lifting.

I have 2 incredibly talented children who run their own businesses, and 5 amazing grandchildren. The oldest being 16 and the youngest 18 months. All of them are fully aware that their nanny is nuts about flowers ☺️🤣💐.

I set my first seed to soil back in 2020, and I have never once looked back. I have met so many incredible people along the way, many of who I now get to call friends 🧡

Collaboration over competition has been my motto for 2026, its amazing what can be achieved when great minds come together to create something beautiful. I belong to a supportive business group and seeing other women rise and shine is truly magical.

I am a self confessed coffee snob and I would rather have a good cup of coffee over a red w**e these days. I enjoy a game of ☺️.

Although I do love the sun 🌞, I am an Autumn 🍂, the colours, the cosy nights with candles on and a good fire. Followed closely by Spring, with new beginnings and promise for the season ahead ☺️.

Over the years I have made and delivered flowers for the late Queen for her birthday, shook hands with the Royals and declined making flowers for Mariah Carey because our vibes didn't match.

I am a seasonal flower farmer and florist who has a relaxed, whimsical and romantic style 😎 so if you are looking for a static bunch of 50 identical roses, then Im certainly not your florist!

I can provide flowers for all occasions, my flower season runs from late March through to October weather dependent of course. I then move on to dried flowers and Christmas Wreath Workshops.

I am an Autumn girl and love this colour pallet, but my flowers are natural and seasonal and I grow a whole array of colours to suit your preferred colour scheme.

Someone said to me the other day, " I bet you can rest a little now rhe seasons almost over" .

Well, far from it. Yes, the Dahlias will only last until the first frost but all the time they are flowering, I can continue to offer to deliver to my subscribers and carry out orders. This means I need to keep on top of the deadheading to keep the flowers coming.

For the beds that have finished, these are being closed down, and put to sleep for the winter. These have been weeded and mulched. Others still are on the list to be done.

In the greenhouse the nurturing and potting on begins with next seasons flowers in full production , I will do a second succession of these Atumn sown flowers in February.

Im also in full preparation mode for the Christmas Wreath Workshops which are almost fully booked 😅.

Come November the big job of digging up all of the Dahlias begin, drying them and storing them for their winter slumber.

Weeding... oh my goodness , weeding the bain of my life, and with the warm weather and rain, the weeds have taken over.

Nov and Dec are the workshops

January, maybe January I will be able to take that break and slow down a little .

The joys of being a flower farmer , but would I change it, of course not .

On Saturday we ( Phillippa and I), had the pleasure of creating a beautiful autumnal table scape for a wedding fayre at The Hop Rooms in Wisbech.

Philippa is a fellow British Seasonal Flower Grower and we teamed up again for another showcase of what can be achieved with British Seasonal Flowers 💐. We are both independent growers and florist who work on our own weddings and events, but we can come together to create bigger installations for your event.

We used sustainable mechanics throughout, absolutely no floral foam and no chemicals used.

We are grateful for all the lovely bride-to- be's who come over to us and gave such lovely feedback 😊. We had to keep reassuring people that the flowers were indeed real ❤️ 😀
