Today we went out to get a new car. Lease is up on existing.

So, we all agreed, whatever we do we’re not going to get the first one we see.

Things that never happened.

Tuesday-travels-organisation-day

Medications ordered; beautiful glassware about to be delivered/collected; battery phone charger - for travels - acquired from husband; Vinted book sent which has paid for London Falling - for travels. Shampoo decanted into travel bottle - for travels. Maps of apartments printed out just in case my phone goes dead - for travels. Revolut card uploaded - for travels. Romanian train App uploaded - you can finish the sentence yourself.

Stupid photo of me uploaded here thinking I’m forty five again which is the mentality needed - for travels. Or not…the way I see it the older a woman is the less hassle you get and you can also be given seats on the train from young people..

What exciting Monday Musings have you got for us today Annie I hear you cry from the mountain top and shores.

At the risk of repeating myself…Bank Holiday Mondays are meaningless to me as I’ve had Monday off for years. Occasionally on a BH we’ll go up to the coast waving bye bye to all the poor sods who are returning to city life via a ten hour journey on the M5.

So today I had my usual Monday lie-in and was woken by a weird dream involving a cat 😸 so went to the gym for a quick “arms” session. I will fully admit that I didn’t have a clue that you could indeed reduce flabby upper arms via exercises. Not overnight though.

Then I did indeed find some things!

Firstly I found a selection of the most gorgeous apples down at the Community Orchard - so delicious! Well done to the people who are responsible for that marvellous amenity by the river.

Secondly I found a frosted leaf embossed dish on which to perch my apples 🍎 it is French, probably seventies, and looks very elegant on my table atm.
21 x 19w x 11h. £10.

Thirdly I found what I believe to be my first piece of Murano! The fish is indeed for sale at £25.
Length 24cms height 15.

Both in excellent condition with no cracks or chips etc.

Finally today I’ll be validating the Romanian/Serbian rail and taxi apps; looking up crumble recipes and packing up two Vinted purchases. I like finding things and I also like selling things as that means I can buy dinner and Gigantic Buttons from M&S.

Little vintage sewing hamper anyone?

This is £18…seems to be wicker and probably from the seventies, maybe older. In very good order and the fabric could be washed maybe but it is fine as is…a great crafting/sewing basket in a lovely retro style. Pin cushion and side bits to store thimbles and the like. All intact and as I said - it’s lovely!

The top handle goes over the middle two so it’s secure when you carry it.

Another piece of French Luminarc/Arcoroc pressed glass from the eighties this time.

With subtly coloured sweet chestnuts and chestnut tree leaves impressed in the glass this is a really decent sized platter to fill up with fruits or cheese or mini gourds for a decorative autumnal display. Might be v pretty with a set of lights as well? Prop up against a dresser?

It’s just £20 and sells for lots more on eBay etc. Where are you going to find a new one (which won’t be as attractive either) for £20? It’s heavy pressed glass, quality, very attractive and no cracks or chips.

SIZE 40cmsL 26W - this is a good sized platter!

Imagine that filled with mince pies - I’m sure they’re in the shops by now?

Shout if you’d like! Free coffee on collection at my house if you fancy it…

Sybil was at BFF Winnie’s birthday party last week. She didn’t like wearing her hat but did manage to steal an extra piece of birthday cake so all worked out in the end.

I’m in a moody today as husband will testify to. Do you testify to something or do you just testify?

A stupid aggressive debt collector sent another email demanding payment for my outstanding BT invoices which I paid in full directly with BT in July and had a conversation confirming this was the last invoice and all was fine. Have you ever tried to have a reasonable conversation with people who are clearly given a job to just trigger the worst in people? I sent an email which got returned. It took me a week to get through to BT last time so do I just pay the nasty debt people £38 and then give them the review from hell on TrustPilot? They have annoyed me so much with their unhelpfulness and attitude.😤😠😡😠(it’s not a scam….).

So instead I walked round town and might have picked up some more glassware and went to the gym to get rid of annoyances.

The French cranberry glass/crystal vase has sold for over £90 on Etsy and there is one currently on eBay at £90. I’d be happy with £20 and then you may keep or sell on if you fancy it…

I love that I found TEN, again French, sundae/banana split dishes. These would be great for a cafe? Or I will SPLIT them into two sets of five. All in perfect order with a fruit design pressed into the glass.
£20 for set of five or £35 for the ten. Definitely useful as an icecream and fruit dish. Shout as usual if you’re interested.

So you know what a harsh food critic I can be…I had high hopes for this new stall at the market today and they didn’t disappoint! Delicious bread and pastries and I am writing this to encourage you to buy from them so we have a proper proper artisanal bakery at the market as should be the case!

They’re back next Friday so make a note if you want some croissants and bread. Yes they will be pricier than Lidl BUT THAT’S NOT THE POINT IS IT? I don’t want to eat a croissant with 36 ingredients- I’m funny like that.

Please please please support and if it’s not for you then please SHARE with people you know would appreciate it.

Are you also aware how amazing Garfield’s home made ice cream is!!!

Everybody watching Escape to the Country latest episode? Tiverton is the featured town and it looks great! I remember them filming round town early summer so I was looking out for the episode.

It’s always interesting to see newbies’ reaction to Devon. I remember it well! And why I put in an offer for our big old rambling village thatched cob house with an attached Reading Room. I just want to shout at the TV - you’ll spend all your time and money fixing it! Don’t do it! I wouldn’t have changed a thing of course…

Anyway you do see Leela for a nano-second so don’t blink or you’ll miss it… I remember thinking - typical - it’s the day my window pane was broken!
