So I went to Exeter today for some birthday treats. Didn’t quite succeed but enjoyed the day regardless

Needed a gym top with sleeves and cut to a reasonable length in colours that suit. Colours and shapes that didn’t suit can be found in copious numbers in both Sweaty Betty and M&S. I shall go back to BAM - Plymouth based and they did our very first bamboo socks twenty years ago. They’ve gone from strength to strength and found their niche. I got a murky green tee and vest in Finnistere instead. My colour. We’re v lucky to have their outlet store here!

Wanted/needed a trendy looking tall fan for my mezzanine bedroom which is always warm. Heat rises - who knew! Nope, I do not wish to pay £549 for a white plastic ugly looking Dyson thingie. Found one that suits and ordered from
Argos Tiverton instead. I like Argos.

Also need a new perfume - now, I am really struggling with this. Won’t lie, I think £150 is outrageous for a factory produced scent full of chemicals and the more I tried the more I felt a little bit queasy. Any recommendations? I used to like the Miller Harris range before it was sold out. I’m not sold on Jo Malone and I like more masculine scents rather than florals. I suit Chanel No 5 or vice verse but could not part with minimum of £112.

I did get a v good pastry in Ridge coffee house and an excellent flat white but I did think their service was bit too cool for school.

Yea, I think it has happened. I am officially a grumpy old woman.

Birthday treats included beautiful flowers, new Ugg slippers and a special attachment for my garden hose. That was from my romantic husband but yes I did ask for it! New ZZ plant for the bedroom with low light. Sorted.

Curry ordered. Back tomorrow.

Down to the last two Paris shoppers. There are some items that I will definitely miss especially when the new colours appear each season.

Thanks to our lovely couple this morning who filled up their new basket with lights and all sorts!

Funnily enough I got a call from the agent who do this range - someone who has never ever ever contacted me. They were obviously missing my monthly orders and their cut for doing nothing. Did I need help with my website? Why not just ask me directly about orders? I like straightforwardness. I told them my shop was closing. That was straightforward.

Monday Morning Musings - not many today as my main task today will be clothes steaming. I need to empty/organise my wardrobe which will be for sale for £50. It’s a serious bargain if you need a big pine wardrobe. Photos can be sent or happy for you to come and view. Let me know. You will need strong persons to shift it thanks.

If I remember I usually nip down to the Monday market. It’s a bit hit and miss but I usually find good unused books at the very least.

Today I picked up this Ridgeway bowl from the 1880-1920 era. I like this range - they’re a good rich caramel/treacle colour with a silver band and black transfer images, usually in a Charles Dickens story style. I think it can be mixed in quite easily with a contemporary or rustic style or with more traditional items to add a bit of interest and character. A bit quirky and probably gets overlooked. People collect them. Everything is collected by someone somewhere. £12

My fave period is mid century modern of course but I also like a bit of folk-art/naïve/bucolic styles from all over the world and the very English Staffordshire figurines fit into this category for me. £10

Against the advice of hubby and AI but obeying my “gut” as ever, I have indeed and predictably, done a final final Nkuku order.

Here’s the thing - the shop is really emptying and as I have more or less two weeks to go I might as well sell as much as I can. Like everyone who gives up their income, for whatever reason and no matter how small 😂there is an element of the unknown going forward with regard to what funds might be needed urgently so a few more pennies in the coffers will be useful no doubt.

I thought carefully about what you all like and Nkuku is liked by all. There’s no getting away from their lovely designs although none of us are fond of their prices BUT they’re special and desired and loved for many years.

My fave new recommendation is the jewellery box which is just a delight!

I’ll be in from 11-4 today more or less…this delivery will prob arrive middle of next week.

I don’t wear pretty jewellery. I don’t wear pretty clothes. That style is not me. I’m v comfortable with a simple top and shorts or trousers; well cut clothes in decent natural fabrics that might cost a bit more than you think. I wear them out.

I like a simple, good haircut. I’ll pay lots and travel far for a good haircut. I do t wish to spend life blowdrying. I like a good shampoo that doesn’t make my scalp react. I like a moisturiser and cleanser and foundation that work for my skin type which is prone to very bad rosecea but it’s kept under control. I don’t waste money on frippery - I might spend more than average on the above for single items but I don’t spend on things I don’t need. That’s why I don’t understand Temu and Amazon and ordering stuff and more stuff that is of no
value to anyone. I do not get this.

Anyway this is just a prologue to pictures of my newish Diana Porter silver birth charm necklace which I v much enjoy wearing. It’s for Gemini folks/twins and on the back it’s inscribed “be careful, there are two of us”. Indeed.

I am writing this post for a completely different reason because as long as I’m focused on this it will stop me doing another Nkuku order for the shop. Should I?
