Well… it’s a little bit difficult to put into just a few words.

At its heart, The Green Door Emporium is a place to discover lovely things while supporting the people behind them.

We bring together small businesses, makers, artists and creators under one roof, giving you the chance to find something a little bit different — and, at the same time, support someone’s small business dream. 🫶

Because behind every candle, piece of jewellery, handmade card, piece of artwork, homeware item or gift you find in our shop is a real person.

Someone who had an idea.

Someone who created something with their own hands.

Someone who took the leap and started a small business.

And that’s what makes shopping small so special. 💚

Our new home at Market Walk will bring even more small businesses together, and we can’t wait to fill the shelves with beautiful, unusual and wonderful things for you to discover.

But we don’t want the new Green Door Emporium to just be our shop…

A few days ago we asked what YOU would love to see in the new Green Door Emporium… and you’ve given us SO many lovely ideas! 🥰

From handmade children’s accessories and sustainable homeware, to dried flowers, suncatchers, chocolates, biscuits, Christmas decorations, colourful knitwear and even candle-making workshops… you’ve certainly given us plenty to think about! 😂

And we really do take your suggestions seriously.

There are some things we already have covered really well in the Emporium, and others that are a little trickier for us to find because we specifically work with small, independent businesses rather than large wholesalers.

But that’s what makes this so exciting — we’re always discovering new makers and looking for those special things that you won’t find everywhere else. ❤️

✨ WE’RE ON THE MOVE! ✨

As you may have seen over the past couple of weeks, The Green Door Emporium is moving! 🥰

We’re incredibly excited to be heading to our new home in Market Walk, and we can’t wait to start this next chapter with you all. 🏡✨

As a small, independent business, our ethos has always been about shopping small, supporting local and celebrating the wonderful makers and businesses in our community. ❤️

So, with that in mind, we’d love your recommendations! 👀

We’re looking for someone local who can help us with our new shop signage. If you know a brilliant local sign maker, designer or business who you think we should speak to, please tag them below or send us a message.

We have some news! 🎉👀

As one door closes another opens….

Since the announcement we made a couple of weeks ago explaining that we were left with little alternative but to close our current shop. We have been absolutely inundated with offers of help from so many different people and organisations. Town Councillors, District Councillors, our wonderful Mayor.. and the outcome? We’re moving to Market Walk! 🙌🙌

We’ll be building something bigger and better than before. ❤️

📆 When? Opening date: Saturday 3rd October

We’ll do a full post thanking everyone that has make this possible in due course, but for now? We cannot wait to see you in October. ☺️

Deanna’s wonderful shop at the market is a celebration of talented local makers, with a fantastic range of handmade and unique products from across Devon and Somerset. We’re so pleased to see all her hard work, passion and commitment to independent makers recognised in this way. 💙

This is not a post we ever wanted to write, however due to some recent events we have little choice but to inform you that The Green Door Emporium will be closing its doors permanently at the end of this month.

Unfortunately, some 18 months ago a leak developed from the pipework above our shop. A year and a half later and despite what feels like hundreds of attempts on our part, our landlord has still not fixed the issue.

This has now resulted in a ceiling collapse (not in the main shop area - please don't panic!) and some rather nasty Chaetomium Mould which is toxic to humans.

The affected areas have been sealed and isolated to allow us to continue operating until the end of this month, this allows us to fulfil our contractual obligations to our traders. However, with the loss of all stock storage facilities, kitchen and bathroom this is a shop no longer fit for purpose.

As I'm sure you can imagine, we are devastated to have come to this decision, but equally I'm sure you will agree, we cannot operate with the health risk to Claire, Myself and our customers.

We genuinely believe the shop has been a huge boost for Tiverton High Street and we are heart broken to be leaving.
