Beautiful heavily cast antique Indian devotional Hindu bronze plaque with relief decoration featuring Lord Virabhadra - a fierce form of Lord Shiva - with ram-headed Daksha to the left and his consort Bhadrakali to the right. Upper right corner of the plaque features bull Nandi and upper left corner features a lingam. Virabhadra is depicted holding bow, arrow, sword and shield, standing beneath a five-headed cobra and is framed by Prabhavali archway with Kirtimukha mask at the top. Dimensions: 23x15 cm. Weight: approx. 980 grams.

Large antique Chinese turquoise glazed hexagonal vase with relief moulded decoration featuring fierce dragons flying amongst the clouds. Nicely preserved example of its type. Dating to the 17th century, late Ming or early Qing dynasty. Height: 21.5 cm.

NEW ITEMS JUST LISTED!

A fantastic antique Japanese Edo period bronze vase with Chinese influenced low-relief archaistic Taotie mask decoration and high relief scene depicting a farmer encountering a tiger or a foo lion. This possibly references the Chinese legend of hermit Xu You who rejected Emperor's offer to inherit the throne and decided to live a simple life farming at the foot of Mount Ji. He hoed his field in harmony with nature and didn't show fear even when wild beasts emerged from the bamboo forest nearby.

For a similar example see The Marry Griggs Burke Collection - Vase with Rinnasei (Ch. Lin Hejing, 林和靖) and crane, Edo period, 18th–19th century.

Rare antique Chinese bronze tripod incense burner of globular form, decorated with a band of stylized taotie masks cast in low relief around the middle section of the body. Resting on three short arched legs and the rim embellished with two inverted U-shaped handles.

Stylistically similar example was sold by Sotheby's Paris, Art d'Asie sale, December 10, 2019, lot 122 - A bronze tripod censer, Qing Dynasty, 18th century. It was acquired by the The Metropolitan Museum of Art and added to their collection (Object Number: 2020.123) with revised dating to the late Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368), 14th century.

Fine late Edo or Meiji period Japanese bronze incense burner with twin handles and intricate relief decoration depicting dragons surrounded by ruyi borders. Base marked 大日本 文政年 整珉鋳 'Great Japan, Bunsei Era, Cast by Seimin'. This was mark of Murata Seimin (1781–1837) during the late Edo period but also used later by his descendants and others continuing his tradition. Height: 16 cm.
