It is Child Safety Week which we as BBSA memebers fully support. The great news is that there have been no fatalities for the past four years in England and Wales due to strangulation by blind cords. However, we are never complacent and particularly want to get the message out to landlords and rental tenants. Please let us know if you have any concerns about unsafe blinds.

Did you know that SIX times as much light comes in through roof glazing than horizontal windows and doors? It is always better to invest in a roof blinds before shading the sides.

On sunny days, keep them closed to reduce glare, UV light fading furniture and fixings, and to control the temperature. Then open them in the evening as it gets cooler. Make it easy by motorising with mains or battery power, and then automating with the TaHoma app.

This sunshine reminded me of the curtains we did last year for Basils Bar at Colets Health & Fitness in Thames Ditton. With a large expanse of glass overlooking the rugby pitch, diners were having to squint in the glare of the sun. Softening the light with 21m length of voile fabric with a pencil pleat heading made everyone more comfortable.

I'm not sure you could use this amazing extension without blinds in the spring sunshine. Instead the double Skytrak and freehanging pleated blinds soften the glare and reduce the temperature. Making it the favourite room in the house. All powered by Somfy motors at the push of a button on the handset.
