11. SAIL 🐸⛵️

So my maternity leave is officially over, which means less time for these peachtober illustrations 😭 I’m very grateful to have 4 children’s books waiting for me to work on as soon as I come back to work, I am so excited to dive back into them! And genuinely can’t wait to be able to share them with you all! But it does mean that I will now be very busy… especially with a toddler and a 2 month old! 😂 It’s a good thing that I love what I do, because work never feels like a chore

So with that being said, this illustration is actually an entry from last years peachtober. I hesitated posting it at all, but a huge part of this challenge for me is showing up to my socials more. Since taking a break from Instagram this past year I feel a lot of pressure and self doubts about returning. So I’m hoping by the end of this month I won’t feel so much resistance to sharing my work online again and I will be able to reconnect with my audience and find the joy in it again. You are such a wonderful bunch of people, and have shown me so much warmth and lovely messages about me returning, so I don’t even know what I’m worried about!

Can you imagine a cosier place to snuggle up with a good book than in amongst the flower bed?

I wasn’t going to join in for today’s prompt because life’s been kind of busy, and we have a poorly toddler at the moment 🤧 but I found a spare hour this morning and I reworked an old Illustration to fit today’s prompt. I’m glad I did, because I like it so much more!

07. BUBBLE 🫧

If you were following along with my Peachtober entires last year, then you may recognise this little bear! 🐻
He is one of my Wildwood Friend characters that I’ve been slowly building a brand and collection around. You may be seeing a few more of the friends popping onto your feed to say hi this month, because honestly I just can’t resist drawing their cute little faces! I have a separate instagram account Wildwood Friends dedicated to them which after this month I’ll be posting more regularly to!

As soon as I saw today’s prompt I knew I wanted to challenge myself to try to capture all the gorgeous light and reflections you see in bubbles. It’s definitely not perfect, but I really enjoyed it!

06. PLUM 🌸🧚🏻

I’m pretty pleased with how this one turned out, It was one of those illustrations that just comes together smoothly with no fight. Doesn’t happen too often, so I really enjoyed the process of making this!

I tried to loosen up a bit with the shading and detailing, maybe you won’t even be able to tell but it’s a bit different for me, and I love the effect!
