This house was right for the family who bought in so many ways, but some areas just didn’t feel inviting. In this room, they knew they wanted to change the floral curtains & carpet and tried to work with the existing fireplace. They wanted the right feel in the room for them & how they wanted to use it. Help was needed to work out how to achieve that as the room wasn’t somewhere they wanted to spend time & they were lost as to where to begin.
The brief became clear: create a calm, welcoming room the whole family could enjoy, whether watching TV, hanging out with friends & family, reading or gaming.
A muted warm grey was chosen for the walls, layered with blue accents & a soft white to bring balance and warmth. Existing built-in storage was partially enclosed to allow for more intentional styling and improved functionality, with subtle joinery updates elevating the overall feel.
The fireplace was replaced with one in their style, when we dug down into the scheme & what they wanted for the room, this was a real sticking point- they disliked it for a number of reasons. New curtains were made & cosier seating was added. Layered lighting, a refined layout & an updated focal point have transformed the room into a sociable, relaxed space that works beautifully for their everyday life.
Now it’s a room the whole family genuinely enjoys, even the dog has claimed his favourite spot on the back of the sofa.
