And that’s a wrap 💔🥂

Today we closed the doors for the very last time.

We knew this moment would come, but that doesn’t make it any easier. It’s incredibly sad to say goodbye to something that has meant so much to us, and we’re feeling all of it today.

We just want to say thank you. Truly, from the bottom of our hearts. We have been completely overwhelmed by the love, the messages, the gifts, and the kindness you’ve shown us. It’s been so much more than we ever expected, and we will carry it with us always. 💛

There’s really not much stock left at all. We’ll have a sort through over the next few days and, if we can, we’ll put some bundles together and share them on here as they’re available. We’ll also be selling off some of our shop bits and pieces on here too, so if anyone’s in the market for a pink till, it could be your lucky day! 😉

We don’t want to disappear without one last chance for us all to look back and smile at everything we’ve shared together, so we’re currently creating a little TW highlights reel too. A chance to revisit everything Truro Wool has been, all the memories, the workshops, the behind-the-scenes shenanigans, everything we enjoyed together. We promise we’ll share that with you as soon as it’s ready... there are just soooo many photos to go through!

We did take a pic tonight… but honestly, it was mostly red eyes, wobbly smiles and not our finest look, so we unanimously decided you’re getting this version of us instead!

But rest assured, the three of us are now in the pub where we truly are raising a glass (or two). To all of you, to this community, and to the end of a very special chapter. 🥂

With all our love and heartfelt thanks,

Your Truro Wool team,
Julie, Liz & Heather

IT'S OUR FINAL WEEK 💛

It's come round soooo fast, but we're now officially in our final week at Truro Wool, and it's all starting to feel very real!

We have a couple of important updates to share...

First, our opening hours are a little different this week. We’ll be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so please do check the timings in the image before making a trip.

And second, as we head into our last few days, we’re now offering 50% off everything (in-store only).

There are still plenty of lovely goodies to be found: yarn, patterns, books, accessories, and a few shop fixtures and samples too.

If you’ve been thinking about popping in one last time, this really is your moment. Whether it’s for a final browse, a project to remember us by, or just to say hello, we’d truly love to see you.

Thank you for being part of Truro Wool. We hope to see you before we close our doors on Monday 30th March 💛

CLOSING DOWN SALE UPDATE 💛

With just over two weeks left until we close our doors for the final time, we're offering further reductions across all items.

To help us manage these final weeks of the sale, we've now ceased taking online orders, so the sale is now in-store only, giving everyone the chance to pop in and see what treasures are left.

From tomorrow (Saturday 14 March):

🧶 30% off ALL yarn, leaflet patterns and accessories
📚 50% off ALL books and buttons
✨ MEGA leaflet pattern offer: 4 for £5 or 10 for £10

We’re also selling off one-off hand-knitted and crocheted samples, plus a few random shop bits and bobs (including display spikes and other fixtures).

If you’ve been meaning to pop in, now’s a great time to visit. We’d really love to see you before we close. 💛

WOO HOO! JULIE’S FEELING BETTER! 🎉

Great news everyone. Julie is on the mend and the shop is now back OPEN with our usual hours (Mon–Sat, 9:30–16:30) from today.

A huge thank you for your patience over the last few days, and for all the lovely messages. They really meant a lot. 💛

Julie does still have a rather impressive leftover cough that occasionally goes into overdrive. So if you’re popping in, please try not to make her laugh too much… we’re not sure her ribs can take it! 😅

Hi everyone, Liz here!

So sorry for the short notice but the shop is currently closed as our lovely Julie is proper poorly with the flu and so is tucked up at home resting. 🤧

We’re hoping to reopen towards the end of the week if she’s feeling better, and we’ll update you here as soon as we know more.

Any internet orders will be picked up and processed as soon as we’re back open.
Thanks so much for your patience and understanding. Feel free to send Julie all the “feel better soon” vibes you can, bless her. Those of you who know her know it takes a lot to knock her! 💛

Get well soon, Julie! x 💐

Yesterday we had the joy of welcoming these wonderful knitters to our final Truro Wool workshop sessions. Finishing Techniques in the morning, followed by the Helford River Shawl in the afternoon.
The focus and concentration in the room through the day was fabulous, balanced with plenty of smiles and shared encouragement (and plenty of tea and biscuits of course!). Everyone headed home with new skills, fresh confidence, and beautiful progress to show for it. We truly couldn’t have wished for a lovelier way to close this chapter.

Teaching and sharing skills has always been a huge part of Truro Wool. To everyone who joined us yesterday, and to all who have taken part in workshops over the years, thank you. You have filled our learning space with warmth, creativity, and community, and for that we are endlessly grateful 💛.

We are still taking a little time to see what the future holds. Nothing is ruled out, including the possibility of more teaching in time. If you would like to hear about any updates, please don't forget to send us an email with the subject line “Keep In Touch” to [email protected] so we can contact you with any future news.

AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM JULIE COWAN, OWNER, TRURO WOOL

After twelve wonderful years, it is with sadness that I share the news that Truro Wool will be closing for business on Monday 30th March 2026.

This decision to close has been made with a very heavy heart and has not been taken lightly. Truro Wool has been my passion, my joy, and my second home for over a decade, and the thought of closing is genuinely heart-breaking.

The reason for the closure is ongoing and unresolved issues with the shop building, including a persistent leak that has not been fixed. With the building currently up for sale, this leaves us facing continued uncertainty around repairs, rent increases, and our ability to remain as tenants. The shop lease has reached a natural break point; combined with the wider economic pressures facing all small independent retailers, I do not feel able to commit to another multi-year lease.

I have explored alternative premises but have not been able to find a suitable space for Truro Wool, and so have taken the difficult decision to close. What the future holds is still unclear. I’m not ruling out reopening if the perfect premises arise, or continuing with teaching in some form, but I will be taking a break over the summer. If you’d like, there is an option to stay in touch to receive any future updates.

I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years. It is because of all of you that I have been able to fulfil my lifelong ambition to run a yarn shop. Your loyalty, your willingness to support various community yarn projects, and your votes of support - leading to us consistently placing among the top 3 yarn shops in the South West for the last 5 years - have meant so much. Thank you.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the team behind me, Liz and Heather - thank you both.

Your collective loyalty, creativity, kindness, and support of my small, independent business has been inspirational and I will miss you all. Now more than ever, please do continue to support your local independent businesses… they can only do what they do with your wonderful support.

I wish all of you many more hours of yarn filled happiness.

With heartfelt thanks,

Julie,
Owner, Truro Wool

To say we have hundreds of photos from our 2026 Yarn Craft Retreat last weekend is no exaggeration!
They make us smile every time we look at them - it really was such a brilliant weekend. Old friends reconnected, new friendships were formed and the shared love of yarn tied it all together 🥰

We've shared a few of our favourite still snaps from across the weekend here for you to enjoy. And for those who'd like to see even more, we've created a gallery on our website, which you can view via the link below:

✨ It’s back in stock! ✨

You asked, and it’s finally here. Our latest allocation has arrived, which means all colours of King Cole Yarn & Pattern Supplier Firefly Aran are back in stock, both instore and online. But don’t hang about. It absolutely flew out last time, and with no further stock due from King Cole until April, we don’t expect it to last long!

If you haven’t met it yet, Firefly Aran is King Cole’s stunning shimmer yarn that everyone’s been talking about. Inspired by the iridescence of beetles and dragonflies, each of the 8 colour-shift shades has a soft, light-catching halo that adds instant wow to any project. No fiddly extras, just effortless sparkle ✨

Perfect for statement knits, special gifts, or when you just fancy something a bit magical.

What a weekend! The 2026 Truro Wool Yarn Craft Retreat was an absolute joy, even if we do say so ourselves.

The three days were filled with creativity, laughter, learning, and connection, all wrapped up in yarn and wonderful company. From knitting, crochet, spinning, and weaving to painting, workshops, walks, quizzes, prizes, shopping, and skill sharing, there was something happening in every corner, along with new friendships and so many giggles. We hope this reel gives you a small sense of the warmth and fun we shared.

There are some very special thank yous to make. To the wonderful Vanessa from Magpie & Butterfly for the beautiful yarn bowl painting workshop. To the brilliant Julia Simpson, experienced spinner and Chair of the Cornwall Penwith Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers, for guiding everyone so skilfully through the spinning wheel workshop. To the talented Helen Birch for her Fair Isle & Intarsia and Helford River Shawl workshops. To the inspiring Siobhán Eardley of The Selkie Grotto for so generously sharing her journey to becoming a published amigurumi pattern designer. And of course, to the Budock Vean Hotel team for looking after us all weekend.

But most of all, thank you to the 41 amazing yarn lovers who joined us and brought this weekend to life. It was made special by every conversation, every stitch, and every shared moment, and we’re so grateful to have shared it with you. Thank you 💛
