Sorry to all our customers but we won’t be able to open this weekend.
As you might have seen, I fractured a finger on my dominant hand last week. I have now been to see fracture and hand specialists at Wigan hospital and they have advised me not do any heavy lifting or hard work with my hand for three weeks as I’m at risk of displacing my finger, which would then require surgery.
As you can imagine, this is the worst news for a small business - especially for a pizza chef where I need to use my hands to not only make pizza but all the other stuff behind it like lifting flour bags, making dough, kneading dough, prepping ingredients, hand stretching pizza bases, using the oven, and cleaning.
My shop is my only source of income and if we don’t open, I can’t earn any money so I don’t make the decision to close very lightly. Things like this not only affects me but also my staff, my family, and my customers.
Behind the scenes I’m working really hard to do what I can, so I’m really hopeful that I can try and open for one or two days next week with fewer slots.
I really want to thank all of my customers. It’s a tough industry to be in, let alone doing it as a small business with just two staff, and doing this with an endocrine condition and now an injury! But honestly, we really do appreciate every single person who purchases from us. We love being part of our local high street and community. Please bear with us, we will be back to full strength soon.
Meanwhile, please keep your fingers crossed for some better luck 🙏
