🎶 The Boss is Back in Town, the Boss is Back in Towwuhhowuunn 🎶

We’ve been on a self-imposed Facebook hiatus over the summer.

We’re only a small family-run business so we decided to put the keyboard down for a while and have 100% focus on preparing for the season ahead, and busy wee beavers we have been.

From Ready to Burn and Trusted Trader recertification, website upgrades and shifting our Fife depot to a new location, herding sheep, to the rather important business of building the log pile back up while navigating our busiest summer of deliveries yet, the tightrope has been walked and everything is coming along nicely for the year ahead.

We said we wouldn't post again until CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS WERE IN THE SHOPS. But with yesterdays trip to Home Bargains triggering the Christmas trip wire... we’re back to putting our fingers in our ears for fear of being "whammed" in the bath bomb aisle & it's only just turned September!

So we are back on here... kinda.

We won’t have time to be on here too often, but Emma will post anything useful, and things we happen to find mildly entertaining over the next few months.

SOME NEWS
We’ve had a big increase in new customers over the past year, particularly through the summertime so a big thank you to everyone who has recommended us to their friends and family. It genuinely makes a difference and is very much appreciated!

If you are new to Ravensby you can get £10 off your first order by signing up to our newsletter (this also applies if you’ve ordered from us before but never joined the newsletter) https://www.ravensbyfirewood.com/pages/ravensby-firewood-discount-offer-code

SOME OTHER NEWS
With the rugrats being shipped off to baby jail a couple days a week, Emma has now returned to the office on Mondays and Tuesdays.

If you enjoy cheerful, professional customer service, best give us a call on one of those days.

If you’re more of a risk-taker and enjoy your phone order peppered with “I don’t remember what this button does…” while I prod keys like a caveman discovering a keyboard for the first time, Wednesday to Friday is probably the “experience” you’re looking for.

Anyhow. I digress. Why not buy some logs? It’ll be dark and cold soon.

Thanks! 🔥

LOOSE TIPPED DELIVERIES ON A MINGIN', BOGGIN', HOWLIN' DAY!
Scotland being Scotland, we are never that far away from a downpour & with the forecast looking pretty dreich over the next couple of weeks, so we thought we would give a quick heads up about how the rain can affect your delivery.

💧 Does rain damage kiln-dried logs?
Short answer: no.
Longer answer: Surface water does not undo the kiln-drying process. Kiln-dried logs are dried internally, not just on the outside. If the logs get a bit wet on the surface, the water will not pe*****te into the wood too far and do not turn into unseasoned logs again when wet by rain. The logs will dry back out very quickly once stored away (preferably in a log store or somewhere that is ventilated and sheltered from the elements).

🚚 After your delivery
Our drivers are also happy to cover your logs after drop off if you have a tarpaulin available. If you do not have one, we also sell XL tarpaulins for £15, which can be added to your order and give extra peace of mind that your logs are protected from any downpours after we leave.

📅 Want to delay your delivery? No problem!
If you would rather wait for drier weather, we are more than happy to delay your delivery. If you would like to delay your delivery please reschedule & we will move you into the next available delivery slot or try to accommodate a date you prefer. Please try to give us ample time to reschedule so we can alter our delivery routes and allow other customers the opportunity to take your space. During peak season there may be a few days delay until there is a clear space in our diary but we do our best to not have you hanging around too long!

🌦️ Weather Forecast
We keep an eye on the forecast when planning loose tipped deliveries however from our experience it is very rarely accurate and almost always not as bad as the press can make out. We have had wet days predicted that end up being blue skies, and days that look like tshirt weather bringing downpours!

So to recap, rain is not our best case scenario for a delivery, however it does not have to put too much of a dampener on proceedings if you still wish to receive your delivery. Just be sure to dig out your packamac!

As always, if you have any questions, just drop us a message or an email and we will help where we can.

A QUICK FESTIVE UPDATE >
We have opened up another van for deliveries to Angus & Dundee on the 29th & 30th December, so there are now more delivery slots available online after some dates showed as sold out earlier in the week.

🎄 Our self-service grab net shop in Carnoustie will also be open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, so you can top up whenever it suits you - same goes for New Years - our door is never closed!

As always, all logs are kiln-dried and ready to burn 🔥

Thanks again & wishing you all a merry Christmas and festive greetings for the big day!

PRE-CHRISTMAS DELIVERY AVAILABILITY >

Our busy little elves have been running around like pointy eared dafties in November with Andrew & David delivering over 350 bulk-bags, and Bob dropping off around 100 loose-tipped loads. There was still some time left to pop grab net and wheelie bin orders neatly away for our customers too!

With up to 4 delivery vehicles on the road (when they are not in the garage!), we are able to keep deliveries moving and waiting times sensible, even during peak season.

That said, pre-Christmas delivery slots for Bulk-Bags and Loose Loads are extremely limited, with availability tightening by the day. If you are planning a delivery before Christmas, we would recommend ordering sooner rather than later to make sure your home is nice and cosy for the festivities.

For maximum convenience, you can choose your preferred bulk-bag delivery day when ordering online.

We have limited availability for pre-Christmas delivery, get in touch if you would like one of the remaining slots 🪵🎄🎅🏽

Posting something a little bit different from us tonight. Scurdie Ness Lighthouse. Beach fires. Starry Nights. Waves lapping off the rocks. Bliss

Also, a quick reminder that tonight is the last chance to use your £10 off newsletter voucher. If you have signed upto our newsletter you will have received an email with a discount code.

There is still time - but not much - to sign up / use it (even if you have used it already)!
