It's been a busy time recently transforming Lynda's bedroom furniture from modern orange pine to soft vintage neutral. Painted in Dixie Belle Fluff, a soft, gentle white, distressed and clear waxed for durability, the aged effect now gives her bedroom a perfect subtle vintage vibe.

My Etsy shop, launched only a few months ago, has been far more successful than I could have envisaged, which explains my absence as it's kept me super busy!

I have, however, managed to complete another commission. The previous one remains a secret for a while yet as it's been held back for a special birthday surprise.

This latest one was, in the words of the owner Lynda, boring pine. Could I please work my magic for her grandson's bedroom. I was rewarded with a hug and much delight 😊!

Apologies for the absence, I've been working on another little venture which I'll update you on in a separate post.

More importantly though today, finally Freya has the chest of drawers she was hoping for. It took a while to find the perfect set for her newly decorated bedroom. Her brief was a light lavender with daisies in a similar style to one I'd done previously.

First the whole piece had to be stripped of its previous paintwork back to its natural wood before painting in an Annie Sloan custom shade with clear wax for protection and durability. The daisies were stencilled and white wax applied for an aged appearance along with subtle distressing. Finally, new crystal drawer pulls were added and a little extra detailing stencilled on the drawer sides. One very happy 10 year old 🤩!

On such a beautiful January day, it seemed a fitting time to reveal what Father Christmas delivered to the gorgeous Jess. A perfect bedside cabinet to match the pretty bedroom furniture I transformed for her birthday back in 2020. The elves did an amazing job to collect and deliver it to Father Christmas on Christmas Eve whilst Jess slept dreaming of reindeers 😍.

My final post before Christmas. I have one more piece completed, but as it's a gift for a gorgeous girl, it has to remain a secret until the big man has been 🎅!

In the meantime however, the lovely Denise entrusted me with the only piece of furniture she has which belonged to her grandparents. Painted in the warm tones of Dixie Belle Hurricane Grey, with the gentle Tea Rose on the interior to complement the vintage floral decoupage, clear waxed for durability and gold gilding wax for an aged effect.

Brought back to life for a modern home, Denise was delighted.

Last couple of posts before the big day.

Not only did Sally have a new kitchen, but she also redecorated her lounge at the same time so the fireplace and tables were painted to match the dining furniture. All finished in time for Christmas 🎅🎄😍! Xx

Sally finally got her new kitchen, but her old brown table and chairs just didn't suit, so they too have undergone a full transformation.

From brown to the glorious pale grey of Fusion Sterling with subtle distressing and gold highlights to maintain its authentic age, but with a modern twist. This was a labour of love, but so worth it. Xx

At one time these G Plan sideboards had fallen out of favour. Now they're sought after retro pieces for a 21st century modern home, especially after a new sleek chic black makeover 😉. Sam's response "it looks amazing"! And it does look perfect back in its trendy home 😍. Xx

SOLD 😍

Let's end the week with a touch of William Morris-esque meets chic retro.

This mid century piece has been given a whole new lease of life for the 21st century.

Painted in Fusion Coal Black, with three William Morris style drawer fronts. The original handles have been sprayed and gilded and the wonky legs replaced with modern gold hair pins. The entire piece was finished with a satin varnish and is now available for £185.

Approximate dimensions: 74cms H x 79 W x 42 D.

It's been a while since I stencilled, plus corner gin cabinets are pretty elusive, but finally one turned up for Susan who requested a mid grey with pastel florals. Painted in Dixie Belle Hurricane Grey with Drop Cloth as the cream base, Tea Rose for the florals and clear waxed to seal. Finally the escutcheon and hinges were given a lift with gold gilding wax to complete it's transformation. One very happy Susan 💕.

A little bit of French loveliness to start your weekend.

Margaret's drum table was given the full treatment. Painted in Dixie Belle Hurricane Grey, with stencilling, floral decoupage, varnish and gilding wax to leave behind its mahogany tones for something far more French chic! The small drawer k***s were replaced with ring pulls more in keeping with this style of table, et voilà, all finished with a little personalised flourish to its owner 😉!
