From Sketchbook to Painting
This new series of paintings has grown directly from my sketchbook studies — quick colour experiments, loose landscape sketches, and memories collected through travel.
Inspired by Mount Tauhara overlooking Lake Taupō in New Zealand, I’ve been exploring saturated watercolour, vibrant colour palettes, and expressive landscapes that sit somewhere between observation and memory.
Using layered transparent pigments, these paintings push watercolour towards greater intensity while still holding onto light and atmosphere. The sketchbook remains the starting point for everything — a place to experiment freely before developing larger works in the studio.
