Woodlands Escapes 100 years old cottage turned into a holiday home 🏡

Day 4 at Woodlands Cottage, plenty of progress made! We removed the downstairs floor tiles, only to discover there was no solid base underneath. The next step is to remove the sandy floor and properly insulate the area, creating a solid foundation ready for underfloor heating. Every challenge uncovered is another step closer to creating a warm and comfortable home.
Next - we will remove some walls to create airy open space for modern living. 🏚️🪏🛠️

I’ve been a little quiet on here recently and wanted to share with you reels of this cute cottage since we collected the keys 4 weeks ago. But I’ve been busy planning and organising renovation and we are making great progress.

I would like to thank you to my builder .rademacher and his team for all the hard work so far. We have literally stripped it back to brick and are building it back up.

This is my 7th project but the first where the garden is actually a bigger challenge than the house itself- but more on that later. I am super excited to see this fairytale building shine again - new Airbnb coming soon! 🏚️🤍✨

Good Morning from Woodlands Cottage 🤎

I am in love with this little stone building.
And not so little garden - I mean you can’t really see the garden properly, but I have a clear vision of what it will look like once we can open up the space. Lots of gardening in the next few weeks 👩‍🌾🪏🌳🌿🍀

Kitchen before and after - swipe ➡️

When I start any renovation, the first thing I observe is the layout and the way I can improve it. (Basically knocking the walls down! 😄)

As a result, we removed the wall between the kitchen and the living room. We also blocked the back kitchen door, the window and the original entry to the kitchen. I also added French door to the living room.
This change allowed me to create a nice kitchen layout with plenty of units for the storage. Open space kitchen/living room also means that your home feels airy. 🏚️ ~ 🏡

I had my best intention to share the progress of this renovation but I am not doing the best job as an influencer. (And that’s okay, because that’s not my goal!) It feels like I could do with and extra hour or two every day…

But here is an update. Three full weeks on site and we have demolished everything and being left with the bare walls, we have removed old electrical wiring and everything is new - electricians are back on site Thursday and Friday to fit the new lights and sockets. All the walls have fresh plaster, two bedrooms are now decorated and have new floors. We started tiling the bathroom floor yesterday and the kitchen units are in place. I am very excited to see this little bungalow looking beautiful! 💫
