𝐇𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 - 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚 🦔

Last week, one of Truro's resident wooden hedgehogs on Trafalgar Roundabout was temporarily removed to undergo essential refurbishment.

Patricia, one of the larger hedgehogs facing Tregolls Road, is currently at Truro City Council's Boscawen Park depot, where the metal frame is being carefully inspected following years of natural weathering. If the frame is found to be unstable, Patricia will be rebuilt.

Hazel rods have been harvested from the coppiced trees in Truro City Council parks by Truro's Countryside Rangers' Thursday volunteers, Truro Prep School volunteers, and the Friends of Coosebean, with support from Truro City Council staff.

So far, the volunteers have harvested more than 4,600 rods. These have been shaped into spines - around 3,500 spines are needed for each hedgehog!

The refurbishment work will be carried out by Emma Scott - Artist at Mellingey Mill Willow Craft Centre in St Issey.

Patricia will be returned to Trafalgar Roundabout once the work has been completed. As each hedgehog is individually restored by hand, there is no set completion date, but we look forward to welcoming her back to her home on the roundabout in the future.
