What does a witch do on a night off?
Apparently… she grabs her kit, her curiosity, her lovely friends and goes for a paranormal nosey round Rusty Shears.

Last night was interesting to say the least — full write‑up to follow once we've gathered our thoughts, checked photos, videos, recordings etc. and let the dust (and the spirits) settle 👻

A huge thank you to Justin and the rest of the team for inviting us in and treating us with such warm hospitality. From the first hello to the last flicker of candlelight, you made the night feel welcoming, intriguing, and just the right amount of spooky.

We'll definitely be back — witches rarely resist a place with good energy, good people, and a few mysteries still whispering in the corners 🌙🕯️

Wowzers… what a busy day! I'm starting to think Sundays are the new Saturdays here on Silver Street. A huge thank you to everyone who popped in and filled the shop with such lovely energy ✨

I'm just about to put my feet up with a very witchy glass of butterfly pea flower mead (just look at that colour, look at it! 💜), but before I do — I wanted to show you these beauties. Mum's been at it again, crafting fragrant bunches for you to dry at home.

Bay Leaf for protection and clarity,
Rosemary for cleansing and memory,
Eucalyptus for healing and fresh energy,
Myrtle for love, peace and home harmony.

All ready to hang and let their magic settle in. She's also knitted more of her adorable bats — white, Abbey grey, and a gorgeous autumn brown. Pop in and get yours 🦇

Look what's crept into the little shop while I wasn't looking.... beautiful Yule greetings cards by the amazing pagan artist Jennifer Skinner. 🖤

Each design is steeped in folklore and winter magic — from the watchful Yule Fox offering blessings beneath moonlit ferns, to the eerie charm of the Jólaköttur (Yule Cat) from Icelandic legend, prowling through snowy woods in search of those without new clothes before Christmas Eve.

They're whimsical, witchy, and wonderfully seasonal — perfect for sending a little solstice spirit or adding to your altar decor. 🌙🐾🦊

Well this is a pinch me moment if ever there was one. On my list of achievements this year, I definitely wasn't expecting to be included in a book — yet here we are! Hidden Figures of Yorkshire by the wonderful Caitlin Pharoah of Hummingbird Photography celebrates the unsung and endangered professions across our county, and somehow I found myself among them.

I'll admit, I nearly didn't do it. Imposter syndrome crept in hard — there's so much talent in those pages that I wondered if I belonged there at all. But I'm so glad I said yes. Seeing The Whitby Witch and my candle story nestled among Yorkshire's makers and doers feels surreal, humbling, and quietly magical.

It's a reminder that sometimes the things we love doing most — the small, everyday rituals — can end up meaning more than we ever imagined. 🌿🕯️
