🌊 Introducing BAY BEACH

Our much-loved Rock Salt & Driftwood has a new name and a new story — Bay Beach.

When The Old Drapery in Robin Hood’s Bay asked if I could create a candle inspired by the Bay for their shop, I knew immediately which fragrance it had to be.

Fresh, salty and atmospheric, this scent has always reminded me of the North Yorkshire coast — sea air, weathered driftwood and that unmistakable feeling of being beside the water.

A fresh coastal blend of ozone, seaweed, cyclamen and waterlily, settling into driftwood, amber, patchouli and musk.

The fragrance you already know and love, reimagined with a name that feels much closer to home.

Sandalwood & Black Pepper has had a little refresh — a new design for a fragrance that has remained The Whitby Candle Co’s bestseller throughout the entire year.

Deep, warm and beautifully sophisticated, it brings together notes of leather, to***co, amber and musk, lifted with black pepper and tea, before settling into teak wood, patchouli and sandalwood.

And it seems I’m not the only one who can’t get enough of it…

Sandalwood & Black Pepper has also become the permanent fragrance of choice for two companies I create bespoke candles for — something I’m incredibly proud of.

PARADISE BEACH HAS A NEW NAME 🥥

Meet Coconut & Amber — a new name for one of our existing fragrances, formerly known as Paradise Beach.

The fragrance you know and love hasn’t changed — just the name.

Creamy coconut blends with bright orange & bergamot, before melting into warm amber, jasmine, butter & vanilla.

Soft, sun-warmed and beautifully comforting, with that gorgeous balance of creamy coconut and golden amber.

We felt Coconut & Amber suited the fragrance — and The Whitby Candle Co — so much better. Simple, elegant, and all about what’s inside the jar.

🌸 Meet Peony & Rose 🌹

You may recognise this one by its former name, Peony & Blush Suede — same beautiful fragrance, simply with a new name.

Fresh red apple opens the scent before blooming into an elegant floral heart of peony, rose, jasmine and gillyflower, softened by the warmth of suede.

Floral, romantic and beautifully sophisticated without being overly sweet.

So it happened…
3 years running and never have I had a candle smash in delivery. But today I was informed not 1, but 3 candles had been smashed and destroyed in transit. My biggest upset was for the customer expecting to open this gorgeous parcel with the candles they had ordered, but then I also became upset over the work I had put into a product that had clearly literally been thrown around, I do my best to protect each candle the best I can in an eco friendly way, not using bubble wrap, but using recyclable materials, but today was the day. The customer is of course receiving 3 new candles without charge. But as a small business it is sad to see the delivery process can ruin your hard work.

I’m so excited to finally share the new labels for our Permanent Collection 🤍

Over the last few months, I’ve been quietly refining the collection — creating a more timeless, elegant look that feels completely at home with The Whitby Candle Co.

Along with the new labels, you may notice that a few of your familiar favourites have new names. The fragrances you know and love are still here — they’ve simply been given names that better fit the collection and the direction the brand is heading.

And for everyone wondering where Rock Salt & Driftwood has gone… don’t worry, I would never do that to you! 🌊

It isn’t disappearing.

Instead, it’s moving somewhere it really belongs — into our Whitby Collection, where it will return under a brand-new Whitby-inspired name. 👀

I can’t wait to show you that one.

⚓ CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS

Some candles begin with a fragrance. This one began with Whitby.

Standing across the harbour from the historic former residences of Captain Cook, it felt only right to photograph Captain’s Quarters here — in the place that inspired it.

Part of The Whitby Collection, this is a rich, atmospheric fragrance created to evoke old timber, worn leather, sea-faring history and the warmth of a captain’s quarters after a long voyage.

It opens with grapefruit and bergamot, warmed by clove, before settling into patchouli, oak wood and moss, with deep notes of labdanum, to***co, leather and amber.

Dark, warm and sophisticated — a little piece of Whitby history, captured in scent.
