How to Create More Luxury, easily...🥰

Friday Interior Design Tip – A Simple Way to Make Your Cushions Look More Luxurious 🛋

Here's one of those little changes that can make such a difference to how your sitting room looks and feels.

Swap your foam cushion pads for feather-filled ones.

Foam pads can become compressed and rigid over time, leaving cushions looking flat and feeling almost like cardboard.

Feather-filled pads are softer, more comfortable and give cushions that lovely, full, plump appearance.

You can pick them up quite easily in places like Dunelm.

And here's my extra little tip: Buy your feather pad a few centimetres larger than your cushion cover.

That way, when you squeeze it into the cover, your cushion looks beautifully full rather than flat and underfilled.

Such a small change, but it can make your sofa feel so much more luxurious.

Have a look at the cushions on your sofa this weekend. It might be all they need!

How ANNOYING is this 😕

Heres the solution...a curtain pole tip that has made my life SO much easier!

I don't know if this annoys anyone else, see my video of my curtains doing this same thing every night but I have always bought extendable curtain poles because they're so easy, you can adjust them to exactly the width you need without having to cut anything.

BUT...

Because one part of the pole slides inside the other, there's always that little join where the two sections meet and this is the problem... if you have curtains hanging on rings, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

You pull the curtains across and the rings catch on the join. So you give them another tug, then another, and so you're standing there wrestling with the curtains just to get them closed, every night and the mild irritation is not needed.

I recently changes some of my curtains to lovely brass ones and while assembling the whole thing I finally thought that surely somebody has invented something to stop this happening.
And they have!

It's a clear tape that you apply along the top curtain pole to help smooth over that annoying join. It's a bit like sellotape, but thicker and designed to help the curtain rings glide along the pole.

I tried it on mine and WHAT A DIFFERENCE.

The rings now glide over the join instead of jamming against it.
Such a simple little thing, but I'm delighted with it.

I've added a couple of photographs so you can see what I'm talking about.

You think you just need curtains… then you’re immediately trying to work out poles, tracks, headings, hooks, lining, fullness, length, fabric and whether curtains are even the right answer in the first place, because there are roman blinds and other blinds.

One of my Beautiful Home Academy members had exactly this dilemma last week with a huge expanse of sliding glass doors in her new extension.

So on our latest Design Support Call I talked her through it...not just the type of curtains themselves, but how they need to work with her new sofa, flooring, paint colours and the rest of the room and HOW to ensure they do.

She couldn’t actually make the live call, but I covered her question anyway and she watched the replay afterwards.

And I just loved getting this message from her.

So, its September and Im trying to look forward to cosy nights, but I do prefer spring summer all day long.

Anyway, nows when its too annoying to put that decorating update off any
longer and at least get started so it gets finished by the busy season in a few months.

Im now looking at new kitchens myself and to be honest I know it should be exciting but the bit where you get people to do the job is just so difficult, Ive been putting my head in the sand.

But because nothing will get ever done with that approach I gave myself a deadline of end Aug and thats suddenly upon me.

What about you?! Perhaps there’s a room you want to finally finish. A decorating project you want to get moving on. Or something that’s been niggling at you for months because you just can’t decide what to do next.
