If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that I’m just a bit excited about my new greenhouse 🪴

It’s structure has changed the nature of our cottage garden & it means that I have an organized growing space for my flowers, herbs & vegetables plus a place for my tools 🪏

I always grown the odd stem here or there, & herbs too, but I hope to be able to grow regular flowers to add an extra dimension to my work, & nurture my creativity ✨

Noticing the change in seasons, how flowers grow & keeping note of particular stems or colours is a wonderful way to develop the flowers I can make regularly 🌸

What do you do to stay creative? What kinds of flowers would you grow? This week I have been sowing sweet peas, more lettuce & snapdragons 🪴

The perfect time of year for Wedding Flowers 🌸

It often happens that we florists go through flurries of popping up at the same venue. There was a time a few years ago when I delivered plenty of luxury seasonal flowers for clients at The Rhinefield Hotel in the New Forest 🌳

Set in the trees, the beautiful oak panel rooms really are a beautiful place to be. I look back fondly, A & L were an absolute joy to work with, and their palette was quite the thing ✨

We dressed the room with high arrangements, floral hedges & urns filled with Hydrangeas, Jasmine, autumnal foliage, Roses, Mint & more. The bouquets & buttonholes were tied with luxury hand-died velvet 🎀

Every Wedding flower recipe I create is completely unique 🌸

I’m beginning to wonder if collating a month of floral highlights is really an exercise in gratitude rather than ‘about me’ 💭 🌸

This month has been quite a juggle adjusting to new routines & regimes, freelancing, pitching for work & doing the floristry work, re-building the garden et all. But as always, amongst it all there have been some floral moments I have appreciated so much 🌸

I hope these give an insight into the life of this florist without having to edit a bunch of POVs 😊

✨ I loved heading back to the The Old Dairy Hatherden for Jess & Xavi’s beautiful Wedding Day so much 💕

🌰 Conkers are everywhere. In every pocket, on every windowsill. I think I’ll keep finding them until Spring 🫣

🪴 The green house is a success! Sowing seeds at every opportunity & taking plenty of cuttings. More SGFD flowers next year 💐

🫙 Homemade jam, you can’t beat it. And we love plums, & figs 🍋

🪩 Loved a little trip away to Andrea McDowell ‘s brilliant Silent disco. What a fab event. Florist heaven 🌸

🍅 Starting to think it could be possible to grow too many tomatoes… any good recipes send me a message 💬

🍂 Autumn is here, I still have a few places for Autumn Wreath Making at Damson Hill. I’m so excited to make wreaths with a lovely group amoungst the trees Damson Hill Cottage | Pilates | Glamping | Sauna | Hampshire there will be plenty cake & creativity - book via the link in the bio 🍰

Flowers for a cheese table… sure thing 🧀 ☺️

And a wonderful excuse to debut a beautiful new stripey compote bowl I didn’t really need to add to my ceramic vase collection ✨🫣☺️

It looked all bright & beautiful set on the copper bar The Old Dairy Hatherden for J&X’s big day a few week’s back 🌸

I do love a bold & bright floral brief, English flowers & no floral foam ✨

For Jess & Xavi ✨ who set me such a beautiful brief 🌸

I loved setting the stage for the moment these brilliant two people said I do amongst their family and friends at The Old Dairy Hatherden last weekend ✨

For a little bit of behind the scenes detail… I built the ceremony backdrop with the idea that it could feel like a garden growing in harmony with the beautiful outdoor ceremony space nestled in the Hampshire countryside 🌳

Birds flew overhead and bees came to visit the flowers as I worked 🐝

When I arrived the wind had got up a bit, and my buckets fell over, but I tweaked the plan and lowered the height of the hedge, then anchored the arrangements safely so the flowers could sway in harmony with the cornfield behind them 🌽

Us florists need to think on our feet when we work outside. I loved the ribbons on the chairs and it reminded me of the confetti cannons I’ve seen a few brilliant festivals ✨

Each section of the this floral installation was moved by my very own hands to repurpose and decorate the reception and wedding breakfast. More details about the table flowers in another post to follow ✨

Yesterday was a big flowery day for this Hampshire Florist! 🌸

I loved delivering Jess’s Bridal Bouquet as she got ready in a beautiful cottage The Old Dairy Hatherden with her fabulous Bridesmaids, family & glam squad ✨

There were plenty of hugs, happy tears a few surprise Zinnias as we enjoyed this moment together. I found it especially joyful to catch up with Bridesmaid Susannah, whose Wedding Flowers I made just a few years ago 🥰

Definitely the best, & most joyful part of this job ✨

There is nothing I love more than designing Flower recipes for a signature Bridal Bouquet ✨

This one was made especially for Beth, who married her A at Highcliffe Castle Weddings earlier this year on a very sunny day near the sea ☀️
