Looking for something a little different to do in Dorset?

Tucked away in the countryside, surrounded by woodland, our Old Green studio is home to a changing programme of creative workshops, seasonal experiences and gatherings.

From candle making and essential oil blending to herbal teas, handmade paper and botanical crafts, there’s always something new to try. Everything is provided, no previous experience is needed, and there’s plenty of room to play, experiment and make something your own.

Come along to one of our communal workshops — on your own or with friends — or book a private workshop and have the studio to yourselves for a birthday, celebration or get-together.

We also welcome independent makers and artists who bring their own creative practices to the studio.

October at Old Green 🍂

The studio calendar is filling up with some of our favourite ways to spend an autumn day — making with your hands, experimenting with scent, learning something new and sitting around a table with people you might not otherwise have met.

Alongside our own candle making, scent blending and recycled paper workshops, we’re welcoming more brilliant local makers into the studio this month too.

You don’t need to come with anyone and you definitely don’t need to already know what you’re doing. Just choose the thing that catches your eye and we’ll take care of the rest.

All happening from our studio in the Dorset countryside, just outside Wimborne.

We’re opening the studio doors this Wednesday.

For one day, we’re gathering together our seconds, samples and imperfect pieces, opening up the shelves of vintage and salvaged finds, and making space for a little transforming too.

It feels like a fitting way to see out Second Hand September — looking again at what we already have and finding another use for things that might otherwise be overlooked.

Bring us a bottle, an old candle vessel, a piece of fabric or something you think might have another life in it — or simply come for a rummage, shop the collection and have a look around the studio.

The Autumn Equinox is here 🍂

A point of balance in the year, when day and night are almost equal and, from here, the darker hours begin to overtake the light.

But there’s more to this point in the year than balance.

On the Wheel of the Year, the Autumn Equinox sits between Lammas and Samhain as the second of three harvest festivals — traditionally associated with the fruit harvest. Apples, blackberries, sloes and damsons; gathered while abundant, eaten now or preserved for the months ahead.

Perhaps there’s something in that idea for us too.

Not holding onto everything, but noticing what is worth carrying with us into the season ahead.

Gather what is worth preserving. 🍂
