Sometimes, it’s the details around a stove that make the biggest difference to the finished result…

For this installation, the aim was to create something that felt clean and contemporary, while still giving the room all the warmth and character you want from a woodburner.

At the centre is a Dik Geurts Oval Front woodburner, sitting on a plateau base. Its curved design gives it a distinctive look without overpowering the space, while the honed black granite hearth underneath provides a sleek finish.

We fitted a twin-wall stainless steel rigid flue system, allowing the whole setup to work beautifully within the space.

The result?

A woodburner that looks like it belongs there — with every element considered, from the stove itself right through to the hearth and flue.

What do you think of the finished look? 🔥

From a simple fireplace to a real focal point 🔥

This transformation completely changed the character of the room.

We raised the existing opening before installing a Chesneys Beaumont 5 woodburner in Autumn Leaf. A beautiful statement that really stands out against the new Chantry surround.

A honed black granite hearth and chamber complete the look, adding contrast and bringing all the elements together.

The result is a warm, characterful centrepiece that makes a real impact on the room.

The sound of the logs burning. It’s a feeling technology could never replace. But what if technology could make it even easier to enjoy?

At Fire by Design, we’re delighted to introduce the Contura Connect 556, a wood-burning stove that brings together the atmosphere of a traditional fire with intelligent technology designed for modern living.

Imagine settling in for the evening while your stove takes care of the finer details.

The Connect 556 automatically regulates its airflow to help create cleaner, more efficient combustion, while the connected app allows you to control your stove settings and monitor the heat being produced from your phone.

It can even let you know when it’s time to add another log, how much firewood is needed and when the ash pan needs emptying.

Less time thinking about the fire. More time enjoying it.

And then there’s the design.

Clean lines, a compact silhouette and a beautiful view of the flames make the Contura Connect 556 a natural focal point for contemporary living spaces.

There’s nothing quite like having a woodburner at home.

The warmth, the glow, the crackle of the fire. It’s one of those things that can completely change the feel of a room and naturally become the place everyone gravitates towards.

But choosing the right one isn’t always as simple as picking your favourite. Traditional or contemporary? Freestanding or built-in? And what size and heat output will actually work for your space?

Sometimes, the best way to decide is to see them for yourself.

Visit Fire by Design to explore our range of woodburners, see the different styles up close and have a chat with our team. We can talk through your ideas, answer your questions and help you find the right fit for your home.

Of all the signs that winter’s on its way, putting the fire on for the first time has to be one of the best.

Victoria’s new fire is fitted just in time for the colder months, and we loved hearing how pleased she was with both the finished result and the installation.

In her words, she’s “looking forward to winter now” and with a cosy set-up like this, we can see why!

If you’ve been thinking about a new fire or stove before the cold weather sets in, pop into our showroom and see what could work in your home.

Or get in touch with our team: we’re always happy to talk through your options and help you find the right fit.

There’s something about a real fire that takes you back.

The sound of logs gently crackling.

That warm glow filling the room as the evenings draw in.

Cups of tea going cold because the conversation’s too good. Everyone naturally gravitating towards the warmest spot in the house.

That’s the feeling behind the Aire 4.

Beautifully British-made, its wide landscape window gives you an uninterrupted view of the flames, creating a focal point that feels both contemporary and wonderfully familiar.

And while it might remind you of simpler times, everything behind the flame is designed for modern living — with an ultra-efficient, exceptionally clean burn and a single air control that makes it wonderfully easy to use.

Because sometimes, the best evenings aren’t the ones with big plans.

They’re the ones spent at home, fire lit, feet up, with nowhere else you need to be. 🔥
